Emmanuel Macron ends tour with meeting with Saudi prince
French President Emmanuel Macron had a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday as he wrapped up a two-day official tour of the Gulf region.
Among the issues on the table for the high-level private discussion between the two leaders in Jeddah were the war in Yemen, the crisis in Lebanon and growing concerns about Iran’s nuclear program, according to a report.
The encounter took place as the country is in the midst of hosting a concert by Justin Bieber and its first Formula One Racing event as the prince tries to open the country with his social reforms, the report said.
Earlier in the day, Macron said at a press briefing in Qatar that European leaders were considering opening a joint diplomatic mission in Afghanistan, but emphasized that it would not necessarily mean recognition of the Taliban government.
