I've spent a lifetime studying history, there is no century I haven't delved into.
Not just "history" per se, but literature and art tell the story too.
I just read Daniel Defoe's memoir of the 1665 plague outbreak in London. He lived thru it.
He's the guy who wrote Robinson Crusoe, btw.
Even the Anglo-Saxon period, so difficult to trace, has enough known about it to know it happened. Telescoping centuries is just not a viable approach to understanding what happened in the past. We can do better than that.
