I had mumps when I was about 5 or 6 yrs. old mid 1960s. I remember I had it on only one side. My neck under my ear was sore. Like getting a sore throat and an earache at the same time. I don't recall it being too painful. No worse than having the flu. I got to stay home from school for a week, so I was glad about that.
