Large statue of Confederate general along Tennessee interstate removed from its pedestal
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A large statue of a Confederate general and former KKK leader visible from a Tennessee interstate has been removed from its pedestal Tuesday.
The statue along I-65 in Nashville depicts Confederate General Nathan Bedford on a horse, shooting behind himself. The statue that sits on private property has been in place since 1997 and was vandalized by what appears to be splattered pink paint in 2017 and the word “Monster” spray painted in 2020.
