Liz Cheney Threatens Mark Meadows with Criminal Contempt Charges

Reps. Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson threatened Trump’s former Chief of Staff with criminal contempt charges on Tuesday.

Mark Meadows will no longer appear before the sham January 6 committee for a deposition according to his attorney.

“We agreed to provide thousands of pages of responsive documents and Mr. Meadows was willing to appear voluntarily, not under compulsion of the Select Committee’s subpoena to him, for a deposition to answer questions about non-privileged matters. Now actions by the Select Committee have made such an appearance untenable,” the letter from George J. Terwilliger II stated.

Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson responded by threatening Meadows with contempt charges.

“Mark Meadows has informed the Select Committee that he does not intend to cooperate further with our investigation despite his apparent willingness to provide details about the facts and circumstances surrounding the January 6th attack, including conversations with President Trump, in the book he is now promoting and selling.” the leaders of the January 6 committee wrote.

“Even as we litigate privilege issues, the Select Committee has numerous questions for Mr. Meadows about records he has turned over to the Committee with no claim of privilege, which include real-time communications with many individuals as the events of January 6th unfolded. We also need to hear from him about voluminous official records stored in his personal phone and email accounts, which were required to be turned over to the National Archives in accordance with the Presidential Records Act.”

“Tomorrow’s deposition, which was scheduled at Mr. Meadows’s request, will go forward as planned. If indeed Mr. Meadows refuses to appear, the Select Committee will be left no choice but to advance contempt proceedings and recommend that the body in which Mr. Meadows once served refer him for criminal prosecution.”

Biden’s Border Crisis Is Killing More Americans Than Ever With Spike In Drug Trafficking

Cartels are taking advantage of law enforcement weaknesses and policy failures to smuggle record amounts of fentanyl into the United States.

On a September afternoon, Allyssia Solorio wondered why her energetic young brother hadn’t emerged from his bedroom in their Sacramento, Calif., home. When she opened his door, she saw 23-year-old Mikael leaning back on his bed with his legs dangling over the side. She rushed to her brother and shook him, but to no avail.

He was dead. A counterfeit pharmaceutical pill laced with illicit fentanyl had killed him.

Mikael Tirado was one of an estimated 93,331 overdose fatalities in the United States last year – an all-time high. Nearly five times the murder rate, the deadly overdose toll was primarily caused by fentanyl, a highly lethal synthetic opioid. It’s manufactured mostly by Mexican cartels with ingredients imported from China, and then smuggled over the southwestern U.S. border. Fentanyl has been arriving in larger quantities each year since at least 2016.

The cartels are taking advantage of law enforcement weaknesses and policy failures to smuggle record amounts of the lethal drug into the United States, according to interviews with half a dozen current and former drug and immigration agents. While a lack of screening technology to find contraband at ports of entry and an inept U.S-Mexico campaign to cripple the cartels are longstanding issues, there’s also a new one: the flood of migrants across the border that the Biden administration has done little to stop.

Former law enforcement officials say the cartels are behind the surge, overwhelming the capacity of agents to pursue drug smugglers. They can freely enter Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California carrying fentanyl while agents are diverted to apprehending and processing migrants.

Frustrated border agents and their union have been calling on Congress to send reinforcements. But help is not on the way. The administration’s upcoming budget request doesn’t include funding for more Customs and Border Protection agents.

Instead, the administration is embracing a public health approach to the fentanyl crisis. It has proposed spending $11.2 billion – a huge increase over last year – to expand substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services. But curbing opioid addiction is very challenging. Most substance abusers avoid treatment, according to researchers, and only about one-third of those receiving long-term medical care fully recover.

Greene, Gaetz, Gohmert, and Gosar Release “Unusually Cruel” Report on DC Jail and Unusual and Cruel Treatment of J6 Defendants

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and fellow Republican lawmakers Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, and Paul Gosar, held a news conference on Tuesday to share a report on the cruel treatment in the DC Gulag. Greene and her fellow lawmakers released their findings that detail the treatment of defendants jailed for their participation in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Marjorie Taylor Greene opened up the event by pointing out to the press that in 2020 there were over 500 BLM-Antifa riots in 2020.

Black Lives Matter-Antifa mobs caused over one to two billion dollars in damages in cities across America since May. In Minneapolis alone, Black Lives Matter mobs damaged or destroyed over 1,500 businesses or buildings.

Over 700 police officers were injured in the BLM riots — and that was back in June 2020!

Black Lives Matter was linked to conservatively 91% of the riots that resulted in the most expensive property damage in US insurance history

Democrats incited the Black Lives Matter mobs for months as they destroyed communities across the country.

On January 6th there were a million Trump supporters in Washington DC. Several thousand marched to the US Capitol. There was reportedly one million dollars in damages that day to the US Capitol. Around 900 people entered the US Capitol including Antifa and undercover federal agents that day. Not one statue or historic painting inside the building was damaged by any Trump supporter.

There is a difference. There is a double standard.

Today MTG called the J6 investigation a witch hunt on Trump supporters. As for the abuse and unconstitutional treatment of J6 prisoners, Greene called the abuse of the Trump supporters are being beaten, labeled supremacists, denied haircuts, and bail. It is unconscionable.

How Congress Loots the Treasury for the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex

Despite a disagreement over some amendments in the Senate, the United States Congress is poised to pass a $778 billion military budget bill for 2022. As they have been doing year after year, our elected officials are preparing to hand the lion’s share - over 65% - of federal discretionary spending to the U.S. war machine, even as they wring their hands over spending a mere quarter of that amount on the Build Back Better Act.

The U.S. military’s incredible record of systematic failure—most recently its final trouncing by the Taliban after twenty years of death, destruction and lies in Afghanistan—cries out for a top-to-bottom review of its dominant role in U.S. foreign policy and a radical reassessment of its proper place in Congress’s budget priorities.

Instead, year after year, members of Congress hand over the largest share of our nation’s resources to this corrupt institution, with minimal scrutiny and no apparent fear of accountability when it comes to their own reelection. Members of Congress still see it as a “safe” political call to carelessly whip out their rubber-stamps and vote for however many hundreds of billions in funding Pentagon and arms industry lobbyists have persuaded the Armed Services Committees they should cough up.

Let’s make no mistake about this: Congress’s choice to keep investing in a massive, ineffective and absurdly expensive war machine has nothing to do with “national security” as most people understand it, or “defense” as the dictionary defines it.

U.S. society does face critical threats to our security, including the climate crisis, systemic racism, erosion of voting rights, gun violence, grave inequalities and the corporate hijacking of political power. But one problem we fortunately do not have is the threat of attack or invasion by a rampant global aggressor or, in fact, by any other country at all.

Maintaining a war machine that outspends the 12 or 13 next largest militaries in the world combined actually makes us less safe, as each new administration inherits the delusion that the United States’ overwhelmingly destructive military power can, and therefore should, be used to confront any perceived challenge to U.S. interests anywhere in the world—even when there is clearly no military solution and when many of the underlying problems were caused by past misapplications of U.S. military power in the first place.

While the international challenges we face in this century require a genuine commitment to international cooperation and diplomacy, Congress allocates only $58 billion, less than 10 percent of the Pentagon budget, to the diplomatic corps of our government: the State Department. Even worse, both Democratic and Republican administrations keep filling top diplomatic posts with officials indoctrinated and steeped in policies of war and coercion, with scant experience and meager skills in the peaceful diplomacy we so desperately need.

This only perpetuates a failed foreign policy based on false choices between economic sanctions that UN officials have compared to medieval sieges, coups that destabilize countries and regions for decades, and wars and bombing campaigns that kill millions of people and leave cities in rubble, like Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria.

The end of the Cold War was a golden opportunity for the United States to reduce its forces and military budget to match its legitimate defense needs. The American public naturally expected and hoped for a “Peace Dividend,” and even veteran Pentagon officials told the Senate Budget Committee in 1991 that military spending could safely be cut by 50% over the next ten years.

Scott Morrison confirms Australia will join diplomatic boycott of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games

Australia has joined with the United States in announcing a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed the Australian government will not be sending any official representatives to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Mr Morrison announced the move on Wednesday, following on from United States President Joe Biden revealing a diplomatic boycott of the games.

"It will come as no surprise that the Australian government will not be sending any official representatives to the forthcoming Winter Games in China," the Prime Minister said.

"For some time people have been very aware that we have been raising a number of issues that have not been received well in China and there’s been a disagreement between us on those matters.

"We have always been open to meet with the Chinese government to talk about their concerns, whether it's their concerns with our foreign interference legislation or foreign investment rules where Australia takes a strong stand, standing up for Australia's interest.

"They have been critical in Australia in our efforts to ensure we have a strong national defence force, most recently to our decision to acquire nuclear-powered submarines.

Aust. Olympic swimmer Maddie Groves says she was sexually abused by man who still works in swimming

Australian Olympic swimmer Madeline Groves has accused two of the country's leading coaches of misconduct and lifted the lid on what she says is a culture of "misogyny" and "perversion" in the sport.

Key points:

Maddie Groves says she was "molested by an adult male" when she was a teenage swimmer

Groves says one swimming coach controlled what she ate and made sexist comments to her

She complained to Swimming Australia about another coach who she says stared at her breasts and touched her inappropriately

In an exclusive interview with the ABC, Groves also revealed that she was sexually abused from the age of 13 by a person who still works in swimming.

It is the first time the dual Olympic medallist has elaborated on her explosive social media posts in June, when she withdrew from the trials for the Tokyo Olympic Games, "as a lesson to misogynistic perverts and their bootlickers".

"You can no longer exploit young women and girls, body shame or medically gaslight them and then expect them to represent you so you can earn your annual bonus. Time's UP," Groves tweeted.

The posts ignited a media firestorm and led to the appointment of an independent panel to investigate the treatment of women and girls in the sport.

In a statement, Swimming Australia said it had taken all Groves's complaints seriously and taken steps to address them.

Since August, the 26-year-old butterfly star has been in Europe, competing in the International Swimming League (ISL) as a member of the DC Trident team.

Groves spoke to the ABC in London during a break from the competition.

Report: Vatican Source Claims Red Francis Is Dying and Will Not Survive Beyond 2022

Two days ago Pope Francis blasted European countries over their border policies as tens of thousands of economic migrants are once again flooding into Europe.

Francis visited refugees in Mytilene on Lesbos, Greece earlier this week.

Francis said it’s “distressing” to learn of proposals to build walls and barbed wire as a solution for displaced peoples seeking help.

The man is dangerous.

A Vatican source told Newsmax this week that Pope Francis is dying and will not survive beyond 2022.

Russia reveals what Putin asked of Biden

In a “frank and businesslike” conversation Russian President Vladimir Putin asked his US counterpart Joe Biden for guarantees that NATO won’t expand further east or deploy offensive weapons to countries like Ukraine.

Moscow is “seriously interested” in obtaining “reliable and firm legal guarantees” excluding NATO’s further expansion eastward and deployment of “offensive strike weapons systems in countries adjacent to Russia,” the Kremlin said in a readout of Tuesday’s call between the two leaders.

Putin’s proposal came in response to Biden’s “concerns” about Russian troops allegedly threatening Ukraine and threats of US and allied sanctions against Russia, a subject that arose during the two-hour call. The Russian leader responded that it was NATO “making dangerous attempts to conquer Ukrainian territory” and “building up its military potential at our borders.”

When asked about this, Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the US has made “no such commitments or concessions.”

Putin used specific examples to illustrate the “destructive” policy of Kiev, which he said was aimed at completely dismantling the Minsk agreements and the ‘Normandy format’ talks. He also expressed Moscow’s serious concerns about “provocative actions” by the government in Kiev against the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk, two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine.

Last week, before the date of the meeting was announced, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the situation in Europe would be at the top of the agenda for the two leaders to discuss. The diplomat stressed that “contact is badly needed; we have multiplying problems. There is no progression on bilateral affairs, which are more and more spiraling into a phase of acute crisis.”

The talks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Moscow over the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border, which the White House has signaled as a key area on which bilateral negotiations are needed.
