Scott Morrison’s Covid scam to help a third friend, Scott Briggs, become a millionaire via government contracts and fraud

Scott Morrison has recent history of helping his close mates make $million from government contracts such as David Gazard and Nine Chairman Peter Costello but the new Covid scam also involves another friend Scott Briggs. Mr Briggs is also the president of Scott Morrison’s Federal Electorate Council in his Sydney electorate of Cook.

Given Scott Morrison was sacked as Managing Director of Tourism Australia in 2006 for deliberate lies and deception in relation to the awarding of government contracts worth $184 million it should be no surprise that Morrison is funnelling as much money as he can to his friends while he is Prime Minister. Before we look at the new Covid scam let’s have a look at the Submarine deal where David Gazard and Nine Chairman Peter Costello made a profit which I suspect was in the $millions. What is odd about the Submarine deal is that the media are now looking into the Covid scam because it involves Morrison’s friends, but the old media have never touched the Submarine scam, except for one story by the ABC in 2019, even though it also involves Morrison’s friends.

I published an article titled “France had Scott Morrison’s mate David Gazard on their payroll for the $90 billion Submarine scam. Has Morrison pulled off one of the biggest stings ever?” which sets out the background. While the submarine deal was announced in 2016 by the then Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull the contact was still not finalised until 2019.

A long-awaited contract for the $50 billion Future Submarine program will be signed in Canberra today by France and Australia, following months of tough negotiations and the recruitment of a high-powered lobbyist.

The ABC can reveal one of Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s key political confidants was recently hired by the French state-owned shipbuilder Naval Group to help improve a rocky relationship with the Defence department, and to secure a crucial Strategic Partnering Agreement (SPA).

“ECG Advisory Solutions“, a lobbying firm founded by former Liberal party candidate David Gazard, has been advising Naval Group since last year on how to handle the difficult SPA negotiations with Australia.

Mr Gazard, who was chief of staff to former New South Wales Liberal leader John Brogden, began his friendship with Mr Morrison when he was the Liberal Party’s State Director for the 2003 election.

In a statement, Naval Group confirmed the arrangement but did not disclose how much Mr Gazard’s company was being paid for its lobbying services.

Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee statue to be melted down by black heritage center in Charlottesville, turned into public art

The statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, which was the focal point of the deadly 2017 Charlottesville riots, will be melted down by a black heritage center in town and turned into public art, WVIR-TV reported.

What are the details?

The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville is planning on melting down the Lee statue by February, the station added.

"The question of what to do with statues has gotten to this place where we are really saying out loud, ‘Yeah, we really could melt them down,’ and we are not the only community that is thinking about it, but we certainly hope we are the ones who create the road map for others who are interested in doing it," Andrea Douglas, the center's executive director, told WTTG-TV.

Douglas added to WVIR that "it feels really, really eminent and historic. We don’t want to take our trauma and have it moved to another community. The idea that you take an object that has so many connotations that are associated with white supremacy, and then allow it to go to another community where they have to contend with those objects. It feels immoral to us.”

In addition, she said the project's goal is “to create something that transforms what was once toxic in our public space into something beautiful and more reflective of our entire community’s social values," Yahoo News said.

The public art project, Swords into Plowshares, will cost about $1.1 million, Douglas told WVIR.

“We have already raised $590,000 in gifts from the Virginia Humanities Open Source, which is one of the largest foundations in the country," Douglas noted to WVIR. "They have already participated in monument processes."

Jalane Schmidt, director of the University of Virginia's Democracy Initiatives Memory Project — a co-sponsor of the Lee statue art endeavor — added to WVIR that "the statue will still be here. It’ll be here with us. Whatever gets created out of these repurposed materials will be here with us."

Schmidt also told the station that the art project will narrate the entire story of how the statue came to be.

NATO should put troops in Ukraine on rotational basis to deter Russia, Bolton says

The United States and other members of NATO should rotate troops through Ukraine to deter Russia from pursuing military action against its smaller neighbor, former national-security adviser John Bolton said.

Bolton, who served under then-President Donald Trump from 2018 to 2019, also said that the United States should send more lethal weapons to Ukraine amid growing concerns Russia could soon invade the country.

“We need … to make sure the costs are so high that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and his advisers will find it unacceptable. I think that’s the way to deter the military action that seems so imminent,” Bolton, an outspoken advocate of the use of American military power, told RFE/RL in an interview on December 6.

Russia has amassed more than 90,000 troops near its border with Ukraine for the second time this year, but this time around the concerns in the United States and Europe of a possible invasion are greater. Russia has denied it is planning military action against Ukraine.

A senior U.S. administration official said on December 6 that the current Russian troop and weapon movements “are consistent” with a planned military escalation in Ukraine, though the official said it was still unclear if Putin has ordered an invasion.

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with Putin on December 7 to discuss Russia’s troop buildup as well as other important bilateral issues.

The senior administration official said Washington “is not seeking” to make U.S. troop deployment to Ukraine “the focus of U.S. countermeasures” should Russia initiate military hostilities. The senior official declined to say under what circumstances U.S. troops could be sent to Ukraine.

The United States currently has several hundred military trainers stationed in western Ukraine while U.K. media reported last month that Britain has 600 troops ready to deploy to Ukraine should hostilities erupt.

GOP Senator Says Don't Rule Out First-Use Nuclear Attack On Russia

A GOP senator who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee said in a Fox News interview while commenting on Tuesday's Biden-Putin virtual talks which focused on soaring Ukraine tensions he won't rule out a major American ground war with Russia.

Even more eye-brow raising was Senator Roger Wicker's (Mississippi) suggestion that the United States should not rule out "first-use nuclear action" against Russia in the event Moscow threatens Ukraine with a military offensive.

The perhaps beyond Dick Cheney levels of hawkishness was on display during an evening interview with Fox's Neil Cavuto. Wicker argued that nothing at all should be off the table when it comes to defending Ukraine's sovereignty - a country it should be remembered which is not a NATO member and Washington as no defense treaties with.

The further shock of it was the casual way in which nuking Russia was mentioned almost in passing during the Republican senator's comments. He said:

"Well, military action could mean that we stand off with our ships in the Black Sea and we rain destruction … on Russia military capability. It could mean that we participate, and I would not rule that out.

I would not rule out American troops on the ground. Do you know we don’t rule out first-use nuclear action."

Russia's Putin told Biden during Tuesday's two-hour call that "Russian forces on its own territory aren’t a threat to anyone" in a discussion which the Kremlin called "constructive".

GOP and Democratic Russia hawks are working behind the scenes for build-up near Ukraine, while others seek de-escalation..

The Biden administration is far from talking all-out "war" - as Sen. Wicker did in his remarks to Fox - however, it's indicated it would mull sending US troops to Ukraine if the eastern European country saw Russian incursions into war-torn Donbass.

Despite being the views of a lone senator, and not that of the mainstream of the Republican party, the "first-use nuke" threat issued by Wicker is sure to be noticed in the Kremlin, given he's currently the second-highest ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

The House Just Passed A Major Defense Bill: Here’s What’s In It

The House of Representatives passed the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a massive appropriations bill that funds the Department of Defense, Tuesday night.

Congress is required to pass an NDAA every year or the U.S. military goes unfunded. The current version authorizes $768 billion in new spending and passed the House 363-70. It does not include a controversial amendment that would have required women to register for a military draft, and it also does not include an amendment floated by Democratic Party leaders that would have raised the debt ceiling.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expects to pass the final bill by Friday, Dec. 10. Here’s what’s in the NDAA.

Pay Raise For Troops

The NDAA raises the salaries of all military members by 2.7%. Junior enlisted troops will receive raises of roughly $790, while senior enlisted troops and junior officers will receive $1,400, according to the Military Times. Senior officers will receive $2,600 raises.

2022 will be the fourth year in a row where service members receive a raise of at least 2.6%.

Afghanistan Review

The NDAA creates a commission that will review the 20-year war in Afghanistan. The 12-person commission, whose members will be appointed by the House and Senate Armed Services committees, will “make recommendations to inform future operations with tactical and strategic lessons learned, including the impact of troop increases and decreases and date-certain deadlines.” Its report will be submitted to the president, secretary of defense and Congress by the end of August, 2022.

Previous investigations into the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan revealed official corruption, sexual misconduct and failed infrastructure projects.
