Judge Grants Project Veritas Request To Insert Special Master After FBI Raids

A federal judge on Wednesday agreed to appoint a special master to shield certain materials from the bureau and prosecutors that the FBI seized from Project Veritas.

A special master, typically a retired judge, is appointed in a small number of cases to sift through seized materials and separate out documents that are privileged, or legally protected from authorities.

While a government filter team could adequately go through the materials, a special master is being appointed to “ensure ‘the perception of fairness,'” U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres, an Obama nominee, wrote in the 5-page order.

“In light of the potential First Amendment concerns that may be implicated by the review of the materials seized from petitioners, the court finds that the appointment of a special master will ‘help[] to protect the public’s confidence in the administration of justice,'” she added.

Retired Judge Barbara Jones, a Clinton nominee, was appointed as special master.

The government was ordered to finish extracting materials from the devices owned by James O’Keefe, Project Veritas’ founder, and two former Project Veritas employees and hand over the materials to Jones to go through.

Jones will set aside any material not responsive to search warrants approved by a different judge last month, which allowed the FBI to raid the residences of O’Keefe, Eric Cochran, and Spencer Meads. She will hand over any materials responsive to the warrants to the filter team, which will then review the documents to determine if any should be withheld from the separate investigative team for reasons such as attorney-client privilege.

Project Veritas lawyers can object to any materials cleared to go to the investigative team and Jones will rule on each objection.

Torres denied another request from petitioners. They had asked the judge to order the government to search for the source of leaked information given to the New York Times related to the raids and the materials seized. She declined, asserting they did not provide a legal basis for their request or allege that the government violated any rule, law, or policy.

Another Judicial Watch Victory: Delaware Supreme Court Demands Answers on Biden’s Hidden Senate Documents – 1850 Boxes of Records!

Judicial Watch this week announced that the Delaware Supreme Court ruled the University of Delaware must provide more answers on Joe Biden’s hidden Senate documents.

The University of Delaware refuses to release Biden’s records and said that the papers will not be released until two years after Biden retires.

“The collection of former Vice President Biden’s senatorial papers is still being processed, with many items yet to be cataloged,” an email from a school spokeswoman said. “The entire collection will remain closed to the public until two years after Mr. Biden retires from public life.”

Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation initially filed a FOIA lawsuit in 2020 for all of Biden’s senate records – 1,850 boxes of records.

The Delaware Supreme Court this week reversed the Delaware Superior Court and demanded the University of Delaware provide more answers on the document secrecy.

Biden doesn’t want his senate records unsealed because there would be evidence of a sexual assault complaint filed by Tara Reade in 1993.

Reade has repeatedly called on Biden to release the records from his 36 years as a senator, which are currently inaccessible to the public and are kept at the University of Delaware.

At least seven sitting Victorian Labor MPs have been told they will be dumped from Parliament amid a factional feud threatening to cause chaos for the Andrews government.

Lower house members Robin Scott, Marlene Kairouz and Frank McGuire will be challenged.

Former minister Luke Donnellan has been informed he will not be supported, but a member of his faction will be allowed to replace him.

In the upper house, Cesar Melhem and Nazih Elasmar will be bumped down into positions on the ballot that will probably be unwinnable, and Kaushaliya Vaghela will be dumped.

Pascoe Vale MP Lizzie Blandthorn could get number one spot on the Western Metropolitan Region ticket, replacing Mr Melhem.

Mr McGuire will be challenged by Kathleen Matthews-Ward, who is aligned with the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association.

With nominations to close on Friday, factions in the Labor Party were signing off on their plans on Thursday.

Toddler dies, baby fighting for life after allegedly botched circumcision at Perth medical clinic

A toddler in Western Australia has died and his brother is in serious condition after a horrific incident at a medical clinic.

A two-year-old boy has tragically died after an allegedly botched circumcision at a medical clinic in Western Australia.

The boy’s baby brother also barely survived lifesaving surgery after undergoing the same procedure.

The brothers were rushed to hospital in the Perth suburb of Armadale after the procedures on Tuesday night. The two-year-old was declared dead on arrival at the hospital’s emergency ward.

His brother was later rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital, according to a Seven News report.

The surviving brother, believed to be just seven or eight months old, underwent emergency surgery and spent Tuesday night in the ICU.

Government committee to consider reforming IDF draft, broadening national service

Commission will examine swapping current enlistment model for true universal draft, with some Israelis serving in the military and others performing national service

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defense Minister Benny Gantz have formed a committee to consider reforms to Israel’s military and national service drafts, and potentially expanding the national service requirement into a mandatory program, their offices said Wednesday.

Gantz has repeatedly called for national service reform, saying that without such an effort, the country would be forced to end the draft and change the Israel Defense Forces into a volunteer, professional army.

The committee will “consider adjustments to IDF service and national and civil service, building a new, broad and updated framework, which addresses the needs of national security, the economy, and Israeli society, for the diverse groups in its population, which will have broad national appeal,” according to a joint statement from the Prime Minister’s Office and Defense Ministry.

According to the statement, the commission will be led by Cabinet Secretary Shalom Shlomo and Gantz’s chief of staff, Maayan Yisraeli, and will include representatives from the Justice, Finance, Economy, Social Equality, and Defense Ministries, as well as the Prime Minister’s Office, IDF, and National Service Authority.

The committee was formed in accordance with a cabinet decision that was passed in August.

Gantz and the director-general of his ministry, Amir Eshel, have both come out in favor of a universal national service model to replace the current system, which exempts Arab Israelis and nearly all ultra-Orthodox Israelis from having to perform either military or civil service.

“With the foundation of the country, the IDF was also founded and conscription was required of everyone. Today, 73 years later, when only half of 18-year-olds enlist and when the country has gone from a policy of a melting pot to a nation of ‘all its tribes,’ we must develop a different model,” Gantz said in September.

In recent years, growing voices in Israel have called for the IDF to convert to a volunteer professional army, maintaining that this is both more efficient and more in line with the country’s current more pro-market, capitalist nature.

A recent survey conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute found that for the first time since it began tracking the issue, more Israelis support ending the draft and turning the IDF into a professional military than support maintaining the current system.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden could soon hold a second round of talks, the Kremlin has revealed, after the two leaders held negotiations over key topics, including Ukraine and NATO.

Speaking as part of a conversation with Channel 5 on Wednesday, presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that “they have agreed that if the representatives manage to communicate productively, then it will be necessary to talk again.” However, this is most likely to be a remote interaction, he said.

Peskov’s comments come after the pair hosted a two-hour call via a secure video link on Tuesday, which was said to be a “frank and businesslike” discussion.

According to a readout of the call from the Kremlin, Moscow said that it is “seriously interested” in obtaining “reliable and firm legal guarantees” ruling out NATO’s expansion further eastwards and the deployment of “offensive strike weapons systems in countries adjacent to Russia.”

Putin’s proposal came in response to Biden’s “concerns” about Russian troops allegedly threatening Ukraine. However, the Russian leader insisted that it was the US-led military bloc “making dangerous attempts to conquer Ukrainian territory” and “building up its military potential at our borders.”

The meeting came after Ukraine’s intelligence service and Western officials issued several warnings in recent weeks that Moscow could soon invade its neighbor. The Kremlin has consistently rejected the allegations and has expressed unease over the eastern European nation potentially joining NATO.

Last week, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the widening of the US-led military bloc further eastwards is a red line for Moscow, and Kiev’s possible accession into it is unacceptable.

According to her, the US is pulling Kiev into NATO’s military orbit and turning it into a ”bridgehead” of confrontation with Russia – a move which could destabilize Europe.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also raised similar fears, claiming that the West encourages Kiev to take anti-Russian actions and said that his country “will take all necessary steps to ensure our security.”

Just three people have been convicted in the district courts for human trafficking in the past 10 years, despite more than 1,000 cases before them, new figures have revealed.

The number of human trafficking cases going before the courts soared to 149 between January and July 2021, from 17 cases through all of 2010.

The low rate of convictions is being blamed on weak legislation and a large fear factor among those being trafficked unwilling to speak out against those who have been charged.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has told Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín that a total of 199 people have been charged under human trafficking legislation in Ireland since 2010.

Mr Tóibín is set to raise the figures in the Dáil on Wednesday night during a debate with Ms McEntee on new legislation aimed at cracking down on the scourge of human trafficking.

Of those 199 cases, the figures show 122 were taken under the 2008 Human Trafficking Act and the other 77 were deemed to fall under the 2000 Illegal Immigrants Trafficking Act.

However, only 168 people have been sent forward for trial and just three people have actually been convicted in the district court.

In addition to the 199 charges, a further 382 incidents of human trafficking offences have been reported and either remain under investigation or for which charges have been created under other legislation, Ms McEntee said.

Of the 1,000 offences of sexual exploitation or trafficking of people that have been before the courts, the majority of these offences relate to the sexual exploitation of children.

Ms McEntee said: “Human trafficking is a heinous crime based on deception and exploitation of vulnerable people. This Government is serious about preventing and prosecuting for human trafficking – the victim-centred policy approach that we are taking will encourage more victims to come forward, which will in turn strengthen prosecutions and convictions.

Over the past year my department has introduced significant measures to combat trafficking, to create a more victim-centred approach to identifying and supporting victims and to raise awareness and provide training."

Three separate operations were carried out in Delhi over a week to rescue the children.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU)-Crime Branch of Delhi Police has rescued 45 children forced to beg on Delhi roads over a week, said the Delhi Police on Tuesday.

On December 2, a team of AHTU-Crime Branch conducted a rescue operation along with members of the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) at Shantivan Red Light, Shastri Nagar Chowk Red Light, Rohtak Road Karol Bagh, and its adjoining areas. A total of 13 children were rescued by the team of the AHTU-Crime Branch.

As per Delhi Police, two girls and one boy were rescued from Shastri Park Red Light, four girls from Shastri Nagar Chowk Red Light and one boy and one girl from Shantivan Red light, three girls from Rohtak Road, Karol Bagh and one boy from Hanuman Temple.

"All the children were between the age group of 6-16 years. All rescued children were handed over to DCPCR for their rehabilitation through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC)," added the police.

‘Pharma Bro’ firm reaches $40M settlement in gouging case, Shkreli trial still on

A $40 million settlement against Vyera Pharmaceuticals and its parent company Phoenixus, as well as injunctive relief against former Vyera CEO Kevin Mulleady for their role in stifling competition to protect the monopolistic pricing of Daraprim – a drug used to treat the potentially fatal parasitic disease toxoplasmosis. In 2020, the California Attorney General’s Office joined a lawsuit led by New York Attorney General Letitia James and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) accusing the pharmaceutical companies, Mulleady, and Martin Shkreli, also known as the “Pharma Bro,” of drastically raising the price of Daraprim, and then using various agreements to prevent the entry of low-cost generic alternatives.

“Martin Shkreli, Kevin Mulleady, and Vyera knew what they were doing when they raised the price of a life-saving treatment, but they chose to pad their pockets anyway,” said California Attorney General Rob Bonta. “Overnight, Daraprim went from an affordable and accessible treatment to one that was far out of reach for the people who relied on it. The selfish choices these defendants made put lives at risk, forcing patients, hospitals, and physicians to make difficult treatment decisions because they lacked access to a potentially life-saving medication. These defendants will be held accountable for their decision to put profits over people.”

Under the terms of the settlement, Vyera and Phoenixus will pay up to $40 million – representing the profits from the companies’ wrongful conduct. Mulleady will be banned from working in the pharmaceutical industry for seven years with few exceptions. The case against Shkreli, the ringleader for the illegal conduct, will proceed to trial beginning December 14, 2021.

Daraprim treats toxoplasmosis, a common parasitic infection that is contained by most individual’s immune systems. However, the infection can morph into a potentially fatal organ infection in immunocompromised individuals, including babies born to women infected with the disease and individuals with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Until 2020, Daraprim was the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved (FDA) product containing pyrimethamine – the gold standard for treating toxoplasmosis – and was recommended as the initial therapy of choice for the disease by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, the HIV Medicine Association, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America

In 2015, Daraprim was an affordable treatment at a cost of $17.50 per tablet. When the defendants acquired the rights to the drug in August of that year, they raised the price to $750 per tablet – an increase of more than 4000%.

In an amended complaint filed in April 2020, the FTC, as well as the coalition of state co-plaintiffs, alleged that Vyera anticipated that its exorbitant price hike would likely encourage entry into the market by other firms, so the pharmaceutical company took specific actions to impede and delay entry by competitors to preserve its monopoly. Among those actions was the illegal restriction of the sale and distribution of Daraprim to prevent generic drug companies from obtaining sufficient pills to complete the bioequivalence tests necessary to obtain approval by the FDA. Vyera also prevented competitors from accessing a critical ingredient used to manufacture the drug.

As National File previously reported, left-wing social media platform Twitter moved to ban an account providing live updates on the Ghislaine Maxwell trial on Wednesday, claiming the account broke “rules against platform manipulation and spam” :

In a post written to the PatriotOne substack, The Free Press Report wrote “I woke up this morning and the @TrackerTrial account on Twitter was suspended. All the other accounts that I have made in the past were also suspended.”

According to a screen shot provided in the Substack article, the @TrackerTrial account was suspended for allegedly breaking Twitter’s “rules against platform manipulation and spam.”

“The @TrackerTrial account was the largest account on Twitter that specifically tracked the Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein trial.”

Twitter did not provide an explanation as to how the posts and updates made by the account contributed to platform manipulation and spam.
