A huge number of Australian workplaces have been forced to sack their own workers due to strict vaccine mandates.

The staggeringly high number of workplaces who have been forced to sack unvaccinated employees has been revealed, with one in three Australian employers hit by strict mandates brought on by state governments.

A new study from the Australian HR Institute discovered almost a third of Australian employers, forced to comply with vaccine mandates, had sacked unvaccinated workers.

The survey showed 85 per cent of employees in workplaces with vaccine mandates supported them and only 6 per cent felt negatively towards them.

“It has been difficult for the employees of course affected and also for the HR teams who’ve had to actually do that,” AHRI chief executive Sarah McCann-Bartlett told 3aw.

“But we have to go back to the initial premise of it, which is workplace health and safety and keeping your employees safe.”

The survey of 760 human resources professionals was carried out in November and showed three-fifths of Australian organisations had made vaccination compulsory for at least some of their workers.

The results also found three in five workplaces said Covid-19 vaccination status would affect their hiring decisions immensely.

While there is concern the issue of vaccination had caused a culture split in workplaces, Ms McCann-Bartlett said most workplaces were supportive of the mandates.

The survey found 85 per cent of employees responded positively to mandatory vaccination, while that figure rose to 93 per cent in Victoria.

“A quarter of Australian businesses feel that the vaccine conversation has caused a bit of a culture split or friction between employees, but in Victoria that number is a bit low, it’s 17 per cent,” Ms McCann said.

“And I think that reflects what Victorians have been through and what they don’t want to go through again in the future.”

The number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children being removed from homes and placed into Australia’s child protection system — and staying there permanently — is increasing at a "staggering" rate, according to a new report.

The Family Matters report, released by Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC), found 21,523 Indigenous children were in out-of-home care as of June 30, 2020, which represents one in every 15.6 First Nations children living in Australia.

It also found 79 per cent, about 17,000 children, lived permanently away from their birth parents, with less than 15 per cent being reunified with their families.

SNAICC is the national peak body for First Nations children.

Wiradjuri man and Family Matters co-chair Paul Gray said the figures were "getting worse for our kids".

“They are sadly almost becoming the majority of children in out-of-home care and I think that should give us significant pause,” he said.

“It should be of deep concern to everyone the experiences and these statistics that we're seeing nationally but also the sorts of response that we’re seeing from government.”

Despite last year's historic National Agreement on Closing the Gap to reduce the rate of over-representation of children in out-of-home care by 45 per cent by 2031, the report said future projections of Indigenous kids in care "remains deeply concerning" and could increase by more than 50 per cent over the next decade without major reform.

500 school staff fired for declining Covid jab

Nearly 500 public school employees in Los Angeles were fired after refusing to comply with a Covid-19 vaccine mandate, with the city making terminations permanent after previously suspending a number of workers.

The board of the LA Unified School District voted 7-0 to cancel 496 employee contracts on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press, after they missed a deadline to become fully immunized by November 15. Those who declined to take their first dose in mid-October had previously been placed on leave.

“Parting ways with individuals who choose not to be vaccinated is an extremely difficult, but necessary decision to ensure the safety of all in our school communities,” interim district Superintendent Megan Reilly said after the vote. “We wish everyone the best in their future endeavors and encourage everyone to get vaccinated.”

Though most of the fired employees were non-credentialed staff, some served in critical roles, including custodians, cafeteria workers and teacher’s aides, among other positions.

In contrast to many districts around the country, LA’s has established its own Covid-19 vaccine mandate for staff and students alike, getting ahead of a statewide requirement that will only come into effect once federal agencies hammer out approvals for all age groups. Currently, Los Angeles is urging students to meet a January 10 deadline for the second semester of class, a date many are unlikely to meet, as some 34,000 students in LA remain partially or completely unvaccinated.

However, as of Wednesday, the district said that a large majority of its 600,000 or so students had received their shots as required, or about 85% in total so far.

While noncompliant LA school employees are already getting their pink slips, students who decline vaccination and who receive no official exemption will be required to either enter an “independent study” program, or leave the school district altogether, potentially setting up a massive exodus of students from campus due to the mandate.

Anchor Wolf Blitzer said, “According to CNN and other major news organizations, a series of investigations and lawsuits have discredited many of the infamous so-called Trump dossier central allegations, and exposed the unreliability of that so-called dossier’s sources. Do you worry, congressman, that your credibility, other Democrats’ credibility, could be hurt by that? And that it potentially could impact how some see this current investigation?”

Schiff said, “No. People that have been following the investigation understand the very limited role that the Steele dossier played. And also understand that while we may now know that one of his primary sources was lying to him, it doesn’t change Donald Trump’s corrupt behavior in 2016.”

He continued, “It doesn’t change the fact that the president’s son was secretly meeting in Trump Tower with the Russian delegation to get dirt on Hillary Clinton or that others in Trump orbit were also seeking the gain of the Russian hack of the Democratic Party. The Steele dossier is a nice talking point for kind of right-wing pundits, but it’s a distraction from what we did learn. What we did learn was very damning of the former president, of the Russians, and his campaign.”

Air Force Secretary Reveals Two New Secret Combat Drones

US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall revealed at the Reagan National Defense Forum that two new secret combat drone programs are preparing to be funded.

"I've got two that I'm going to have in the '23 budget in some form," Kendall told Politico on Saturday at the conference.

"They're both unmanned air combat vehicles, unmanned platforms that are designed to work in conjunction with fighter aircraft like [the Next Generation Air Dominance fighter] or F-22 or the F-35. On the other hand they work in conjunction with bombers like the B-21," he said.

Kendall said the two combat drones are designed to operate alongside stealth fighter jets and bombers. He said the existence of the drones would be disclosed in the upcoming military budget request that heads to Congress early next year.

"These will be acknowledged classified programs," he explained, "but I am going to try to get them started in '23."

There is speculation the two new drones could be the USAF's attempt to expand its Loyal Wingman program. So far, Boeing has developed the Loyal Wingman drone in partnership with the Defence Department and Royal Australian Air Force. The drone uses artificial intelligence to attack enemy targets and flies alongside high-value assets such as the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, Boeing P-8 Poseidon, and Boeing E-7 Wedgetail.

Anyone entering a cafe, restaurant, bar, club, pub, theatre, cinema, museum, library or sport stadium will need to be fully vaccinated under a statewide mandate from December 17.

The mandate doesn't extend to essential services like grocery stores, but Small Business Minister Di Farmer says all private business are allowed to opt in to the mandate.

'The ability to mandate that staff and patrons be vaccinated is available to every business,' Ms Farmer told reporters on Thursday.

'Any business is able to make that decision, and I think a lot of them are actually thinking about that very seriously.

'(When Queensland opens up) you will need to be protected and businesses all over Queensland will be making that decision.

'If a person decides not to be vaccinated, then those are the things that they will take into consideration.'

Australia's most powerful banker has issued a chilling warning about cryptocurrencies as the government cracks down on decentralised finance.

The volatility has prompted Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Philip Lowe to urge investors to be careful about investing in cryptocurrencies.
