I think wolves would be the most likely candidate, but yes, there are others, and yes probably lots that have gone extinct.
The mass death isn´t really here yet.
We are in troubled times, but people through history have been in far worse shit than this, and gone through it.
I expect things will be revealed soon, the proper great awakening.
There will be mental pain when that happen, when people will have to face to truth about this world, about the virus and vaccines, and much more.

WW2 was basically a war with superior german army against mass production enemy forces.
They invented modern warfare. It was a war of machines. Tanks, ships, airplanes. Just think of the difference between ww1 and ww2. But their enemies caught up eventually and had the mass production to roll over them.
The Brits invented the radar though.
