I know a guy who was in scouts and he has nothing good to say about the organization, the other scouts, or the leaders.

It was a living nightmare for him.

His mom was a single parent and thought that the experience would be good for him.

They were poor, so all of the fees, etc. were paid for by someone else.

He begged his mom to stop making him go to scouts, but didn't want to tell her the real reason because he was embarrassed.

They prey on kids because they know that the kids are easily manipulated, won't tell anyone, and are powerless to do anything about it.

They deserve to be strung up.

If dad is a scout leader then at least he can look out for his own kid. But the moms just send their boys off to Scouts with the assumption that the leaders will be a "good father figure" for their sons. So sad.
