South African study indicates people less likely to be hospitalized with Omicron variant

From CNN Health’s Maggie Fox

A new study from South Africa indicates that Pfizer/BioNTech’s vaccine is only about 33% effective against the Omicron variant of coronavirus, but people infected with the Omicron variant are less likely to end up in the hospital than those infected with the original strain of the virus.

The data comes from Discovery Health, a large health insurance company that covers 3.7 million people in South Africa. The team there, along with researchers at the South African Medical Research Council, looked at claims data coming from the time when Omicron became predominant across South Africa, and compared it to data from earlier periods.

I went to local post office just now to buy Christmas Stamps for Christmas Cards;

The place was empty, nobody in line.

I asked to buy Christmas Stamps and was told they didn't have any?

was told they just had the three under glass on wall. I looked quickly to see what appeared to be a WW2 soldier, a Chinese woman and the Day of Death painted skull stamp.

I thought, maybe for WW2 stamp, No and NO for other 2.

Ah, just give me regular stamps I said.

Was told they don't have any of those either….

just the 3 on wall.

Hmm, I said, maybe the WW2 stamp is Patton and that would be ok.

but, no, it was a Japanese America soldier. (Pearl Harbor Stamp??)

in short, MY post office is out of regular stamps.

Only diversity stamps available, Japanese,

Chinese and Mexican.
