Satanic Temple Lawsuits in Texas Claim Laws Violate Their ‘Religious Freedom’ to ‘Abortion Rituals’

The Satanic Temple is seeking a court declaration to allow abortions for their members, claiming that the laws violate their “religious freedom” to perform “abortion rituals.”

The Satanists argue that the laws violate their “right to a religious accommodation of its members to engage in the abortion ritual under the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”

They also claim that “TST has a constitutional right under the Texas Constitution to the free exercise of their religious practices, including the abortion ritual” and “First Amendment ‘conduct,’ including TST’s religious abortion ritual, is not permitted to be the target of civil actions filed under SB8.”

“SB8’s ban on abortions after six weeks infringes upon our members’ rights to engage with their chosen religion and to participate in religious rites and rituals,” The Satanic Temple’s Director of Campaign Operations Erin Helian said in a press release provided to The Gateway Pundit. “In accordance with our Third Tenet, The Satanic Temple will push back against the Texas legislature’s violation of our members’ bodily autonomy and freedom of choice.”

The Satanic Temple is also engaged in another lawsuit before the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas against the state of Texas for “impeding the free exercise rights of a member seeking an abortion.”

According to the group’s press release, “the member was met with state-mandated interventions prior to the procedure, designed by the legislature to discourage people from seeking abortions. Texas’s current state laws require doctors to administer legally mandated, though not medically necessary, procedures before obtaining an abortion.”

The Satanic Temple complained that the “mandate forces patients to be given a sonogram, to be provided the results of that test, to be given a narrative written by the Texas legislature about the supposed meaning of the sonogram results, and a mandatory waiting period following the sonogram before the abortion can be administered. These steps aim to manipulate those seeking abortion care into altering their decision, thus interfering with freedom of choice and bodily autonomy.”

“The Temple will work tirelessly to do our best to protect the religious rights of members who want to engage in TST’s abortion ritual,” added Helian.

The temple previously attempted to use religious freedom to fight abortion laws in Missouri, but failed.

Their latest move is unlikely to work based on the decision in Employment Division, Department of Human Resources of Oregon v. Smith. In that case, the Supreme Court ruled that the state could deny unemployment benefits to a person fired for violating a state prohibition on the use of peyote, even if used during part of a religious ritual.

The case ultimately set the precedent that states are allowed to accommodate illegal acts if they are performed in pursuit of religious beliefs, but they are not required to do so.

Liz Cheney Accepted ‘Statesmanship’ Award From Chinese Communist Party Influence Group.

Rep. Cheney, alongside Senators Tim Scott, Chris Coons, and Rep. Jim Clyburn, received the Association of Former Members of Congress (FMC) 2021 Statesmanship Award. Among the sponsors of the award are the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

Cheney – a frequent critic of Donald Trump and member of the House’s January 6th Commission – also participated in a virtual conversation with the FMC, which has a long record of collaboration with CUSEF.

CUSEF was founded by the Vice-Chairman of the “highest-ranking entity overseeing” China’s United Front, which the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission identifies as Beijing’s operation “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing.”

The U.S. State Department compares the United Front to the Chinese regime’s “magic weapon” to advance its preferred policies.

CUSEF has deployed this tactic on American journalists and former Congressmen, offering free trips to the country in exchange for “favorable coverage,” according to Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) filings. The trips function as part of a broader effort to “effectively disseminate positive messages to the media, key influencers and opinion leaders, and the general public” regarding the Chinese Communist Party.

The Committee of 100, which appears to be similarly tied to the Chinese Communist Party and its influence operations, also sponsored the event.

Rep. Cheney’s decision to accept the CUSEF-funded award follows The National Pulse unearthing her husband’s employment at a law firm deeply in business with the Chinese Communist Party.

Appeals Court Upholds Ruling Forcing Biden Administration to Restart ‘Remain in Mexico’ Program

A federal appeals court on Monday rejected a bid by President Joe Biden’s administration to end the recently-restarted Trump era “Remain in Mexico” program.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld an order from District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump nominee, finding that the administration erred in ending the program, which forces some asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their claims to be heard.

Kacsmaryk ruled in September that Biden nominee Alejandro Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, violated federal law when attempting to end the program in part by ignoring its benefits.

The ruling led to a reboot of the program, formally known as the Migrant Policy Protocols (MPP), but the government is simultaneously attempting to ax it for good.

Mayorkas announced on Oct. 29 that the program would end, despite the court order.

The government then informed the appeals court that the ongoing case was moot because of the announcement.

California Proudly Forcing Young Toddlers to Mask Up for the Next Month

California is forcing young toddlers to wear a mask for the next month, describing the decision as an “added layer of mitigation” against the Omicron variant, which public health officials have described as mild.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced the mandate, which goes into effect on Wednesday, December 15, on Monday, “requiring masks to be worn in all indoor public settings, irrespective of vaccine status.” It will last until January 15, 2022.

“This new measure brings an added layer of mitigation as the Omicron variant, a Variant of Concern as labeled by the World Health Organization, is detected across California, the United States, and the world and is likely to spread more easily than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and the Delta variant,” the CDPH said in a statement, claiming that the month of masking will bring an “additional protection to individuals, families and communities during the holidays.”

The CDPH also claimed the masking requirement has allowed California to keep schools open. Florida has never had a statewide mask mandate and does not mandate it in schools, and they remain open without any more issue than any other state.

The Golden State’s mask requirement applies to virtually everyone, including toddlers, as only those ages under two are exempt. The only other exemptions apply to individuals “with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a mask,” as well as the hearing impaired.

The final exemption exists for “persons for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to the person related to their work, as determined by local, state, or federal regulators or workplace safety guidelines.”

Last month, prior to Thanksgiving, Santa Cruz County in California issued a mask mandate for all indoor settings including private homes, requiring “all individuals to wear a face covering when indoors regardless of vaccination status.”

The moves are reminiscent of the mandates imposed on the American people during the holiday season of 2020, when Democrat leaders issued mask mandates and attempted to place capacity limits on gatherings in private homes.

NEW ORLEANS – (DOJ) – An indictment issued by a federal grand jury in New Orleans, Louisiana, was unsealed charging former Amite City Police Chief Jerry Trabona and current Amite City Councilmember Kristian Hart with criminally violating federal election laws as part of a scheme to pay for votes in a federal election.

According to the indictment, Trabona, 73, of Amite City, and Hart, 49, of Amite City, conspired to and did unlawfully pay voters to cast their ballots for certain candidates during the 2016 Open Primary Election and the 2016 Open General Election in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. The indictment alleges that, in furtherance of the scheme, the conspirators solicited and hired individuals to identify potential voters, transported those voters to the polls where they were provided with the names and candidate numbers of candidates, and paid the voters to cast their ballots for candidates.

Trabona and Hart are each charged with conspiracy to buy votes and multiple counts of buying votes. The defendants are scheduled for their initial court appearance on Dec. 17 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Wells Roby of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. If convicted, they face a maximum penalty of five years in prison on each count.

The Department of Justice also announced the guilty pleas of two additional Tangipahoa Parish residents for their involvement in vote buying in Tangipahoa Parish during the 2016 election period: Sidney Smith, 68, of Amite City, and Calvin Batiste, 64, of Independence. Smith and Batiste each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to buy votes during the 2016 election. Smith pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lance Africk on Nov. 29, and Batiste pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman on Dec. 8. Smith and Batiste both face a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Despite Almost 100% Vaxx-Rate, Cornell University Shuts Down Campus As Omicron Case Detected

Just a few days before the end of the semester, Cornell University is shutting down its campus and moving final exams online because of a recent surge in COVID-19 cases among its overwhelmingly vaccinated student population.

In a message released Tuesday, Cornell President Martha E. Pollack told the campus community that the university’s surveillance testing “has continued to identify the rapid spread of COVID-19” among students.

According to the Ivy League school’s website, 97 percent of the overall population on the Ithaca, New York campus has been fully vaccinated. That includes 100 percent of professional faculty, 93 percent of other employees, and 99 percent of undergraduate students. As of Dec. 12, there are 469 active student cases, including 214 newly confirmed positives.

“While faculty and staff case numbers currently remain low, just last evening our COVID-19 testing lab team identified evidence of the highly contagious Omicron variant in a significant number of Monday’s positive student samples,” Pollack said, adding that the university now moves to “alert level red,” which indicates high risk, for the first time since the early days of the pandemic.

Pollack also emphasized that there is only preliminary evidence of Omicron’s presence on the Cornell campus, as PCR testing has identified the variant’s characteristic “S-gene dropout” in a substantial number of virus samples. That being said, the university is “proceeding as if it is” while awaiting genome sequencing information that can confirm whether the source is Omicron.

In an effort to curb the spread of what could be Omicron, which appears to be significantly more transmissible but generally causes milder symptoms compared to other variants, Cornell is going to facilitate a number of changes. All university activities involving undergraduates and all university-sponsored events, including the Dec. 18 graduation ceremony, will be canceled. Libraries and gyms will be closed. Students are also advised to get a negative COVID-19 test result before any travel. Visitors and guests are not allowed on campus, except those coming to pick up students for break.

“Any student who has not tested negative in the past 48 hours should get a supplemental test as soon as possible,” Pollack wrote. “Students are encouraged to stay in Ithaca, in their residences, until their test results are received, and severely limit interactions with others during that time.”

When it comes to the finals, Pollack said all final exams will move to an online format, and that students should look to their professors as they make changes, as many may need to reschedule in accordance with the changes.

Canada police ask for help to identify suspect in billionaire's murder

Canadian police are asking for the public's help after releasing video of a suspect in the killing of Canadian drug company billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife four years ago.

Toronto Det. Sgt. Brandon Price said the suspect spent "a very suspicious amount of time” in the immediate area of the Sherman home around the time the Shermans were murdered.

The security camera footage shows a man or woman walking down a sidewalk with a hat who seems to kick up his or her right boot as they takes each step. The video does not show the suspect’s face. Price estimated the person is between 170 and 180cm tall.

In late October, Supreme Court Justice Jean Dalton struck out parts of their application, saying they fell within the bounds of an industrial relations dispute.

To put the amount of 24 billion dollars in perspective it is illuminating to bear in mind that the U.S. aid budget for international assistance in the Covid crisis is one-sixteenth of what the Congress cynically over-allocated to the nation’s military. As indicated by the State Department, “The United States has continued to demonstrate its global leadership in public health and humanitarian assistance in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic… Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the U.S. Government has announced more than $1.5 billion [for] emergency health, humanitarian, economic, and development assistance specifically aimed at helping governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations fight the pandemic.” The allocation covers “more than 120 countries.”

It so happened that the defence policy bill went through Congress on the same day that President Biden, the comparatively parsimonious military spender, had a video conference with President Putin in which, as the White House stated in a media release on December 7, the U.S. stance concentrated on “the deep concerns of the United States and our European Allies about Russia’s escalation of forces surrounding Ukraine” to which U.S. military aid now totals over 1.5 billion dollars — just a bit more than its international Covid assistance.

Much of the cash being doled out by Washington is directed to the myriad of military equipment manufacturers, called ‘defence contractors’ which is a bland and inaccurate description for a group of highly-skilled specialists who reap enormous profits by making weapons to kill people all over the world. In another irony, one report brought attention to the fact that one of the manufacturers’ associated businesses, Analytic Services Inc, got into the top ten of the hundred most profitable government contractors “thanks in part to the Army’s $7.1 billion Covid-19 expenditure.”

Damascus, SANA- People’s Assembly Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh affirmed that citizens of occupied Syrian Arab Golan bear national responsibility in facing the practices of the usurping Zionist occupation entity through adhering to their Arab and Syrian Identity and rejecting the methods of persuasion and intimidation that were imposed on them, showing confidence on that the liberation day will inevitably come.

Sabbagh stressed in his speech on the 40th anniversary of the ominous decision of the Zionist entity to annex the occupied Syrian Arab Golan during the Assembly’s session held on Tuesday that the struggle of the Syrian Arab people is based on fulfilling their principles, on top of which the restoration of entire land of Golan and the liberation of prisoners and detainees from the prisons of the lsraeli occupation.

Sabbagh pointed out the aforementioned annexation decision is illegal , as the UN General Assembly issued during its meeting by an overwhelming majority a resolution calling upon the usurping entity to withdraw from all the occupied Arab lands.

The Assembly also issued a resolution on the invalidity of the Zionist measures in the occupied Golan, especially the annexation decision and it reminded of UN Security Council Resolution No. 497, which called upon Israel to cancel the annexation decision and consider it null and void and without any legal effect.

Sabbagh concluded his speech by saluting the souls of the martyrs of the Golan and the righteous martyrs of Syria, the steadfast and patient people in Golan and the personel of the Syrian Arab Army, those who protect the homeland under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.

Recently, a fully vaccinated mom gave birth to a baby bleeding from mouth and nose according to VAERS report. The baby died a day after birth. The infant’s father stated his open suspicion that the vaccine was related to the death.

The infant death is one of 52 reported deaths among 30,550 adverse events recorded by VAERS for children under 17 years old as of December 3.

Another newborn child who was still in the nursing phase and waiting to be released from the hospital, was suddenly seen developing issues when his mother took a second dose of Pfizer on September 9th.

Within 24 hours, the baby’s heartbeat slowed down, oxygen being low in the blood resulting in him turning blue, making it difficult for him to swallow and suck.

UAE may scrap $23-billion F-35 deal with US – reports

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has suspended talks with the US over procuring 50 F-35 fighter jets that were part of a $23 billion arms deal, expressing concerns over a restrictive end-user agreement, according to media reports.

The plans to procure the 5th generation fighter jets have been sent for “re-assessment”, an unnamed UAE official told Reuters on Tuesday, confirming earlier reporting by the Wall Street Journal on a potential breakage of the deal.

“Technical requirements, sovereign operational restrictions, and cost/benefit analysis led to the re-assessment,” the official said, adding that Washington still remains “the UAE's preferred provider for advanced defense requirements and discussions for the F-35 may be re-opened in the future.”

The country has been reportedly seeking to “address mutual defense security conditions for the acquisition,” namely what it deemed an over-restrictive end-user agreement. The requirements have been reportedly set up by Washington over the cozy relationship Abu Dhabi enjoys with China, seeking to protect the cutting-edge planes from possible “espionage” attempts by Beijing.

The US has been very ambiguous on the fate of the deal, with Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stating earlier that Washington’s ties with the Gulf nation was a strategic matter, spanning far beyond simple arms trade. At the same time, Kirby said the US was seeking to address the questions raised by Abu Dhabi, but referred further questions on the arms trade to the State Department.

"We will always insist, as a matter of statutory requirements and policy, on a variety of end use requirements," Kirby said.

An unnamed State Department official, who spoke with Reuters on the condition of anonymity, said Washington was seeking to iron out the outstanding issues to make the deal succeed. “We are hopeful that we can work through any outstanding issues,” the official said.

The sale of 50 F-35 jets comes as a part of a $23 billion arms deal that the US and the UAE reached in the last days of Trump’s administration. The agreement also involves a sale of 18 MQ-9B Reaper attack drones, as well as other high-tech munitions.

The deal was off to a rocky start, as it got suspended shortly after inking, as the new US administration sent Trump-era arms deals for re-assessment shortly after Joe Biden took over the White House.

Huge blaze hits power station in California

A six-block radius in downtown Sacramento, the capital of California, has lost power as the result of a fire at an electrical substation. The blaze has caused the nearby county jail to go into lockdown.

The substation at 7th and H streets caught fire on Tuesday morning local time. A pillar of smoke went up into the sky, as the immediate area lost power.

The main Sacramento County Jail, which is right across the road, went into lockdown “for staff and inmate safety,” the sheriff’s department said.

The nearby courthouse and county buildings were presumably also affected by the outage, as were all the traffic signals in the area.

Light rail lines servicing the area have also been impacted, and the county has sent shuttle buses to help. The local fire department has responded to the scene. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The substation is located next to the historic Old Folsom Powerhouse, a terminal for the power station that began operating in 1895, as one of the first alternating-current plants in North America. It was also the longest-operating plant, closing in 1952 to become a state monument.

Northern and central parts of California are still dealing with power outages caused by wind and rain storms that started over the weekend, and are forecast to continue throughout the week. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) reportedly deployed almost 400 repair crews throughout the region.
