Police arrest 3 people in investigation of the mysterious death of an Instagram model and her friend
Three men were arrested on Wednesday in an investigation of the deaths of an Instagram model and her friend, who were both mysteriously dumped outside two separate Los Angeles hospitals last month, ABC 7 reported.
Instagram model Christy Giles, 24, was found dead on the sidewalk outside Southern California Hospital in Culver City on November 13.
Her friend, Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, was found unconscious outside Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center two hours later and put into a coma. A day before her 27th birthday, she was pronounced brain dead and her family took her off life support.
Giles' husband, Jan Cilliers, confirmed to ABC7 that Los Angeles Police Department made three arrests. The publication gave no further details.
The LAPD did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Cabrales-Arzola and Giles attended a warehouse party in East LA together the night before they were found outside the hospitals.
The two friends left the party with three unidentified men and went to an apartment in West Hollywood, Giles' mother and Cilliers previously told multiple media outlets.
The women were meant to leave the apartment to attend another party but never made it, Cilliers told the Daily Mail last month.
Cilliers told the Mail that while at the apartment, his wife sent a text message to Cabrales-Arzola, saying, "Let's go" alongside a shocked-face emoji. Cabrales-Arzola responded that she was calling an Uber but the two women never got in one, Cilliers told the Mail.
The families of both women have previously said they suspect foul play in their deaths.
A toxicology report found that Cabrales-Arzola had heroin in her system, KTLA reported, but Cilliers said both women would never take heroin voluntarily.
On Tuesday, Cilliers dedicated an Instagram post to Giles, writing: "It's now exactly one month since you were so suddenly taken from us. Time has never moved so slowly, or so quickly."
"Life will never be the same without you," he added.

Agree ^^
What happens when they regroup? They will. Just like last time. It never ends, until [THEY] cease to exist
It's like the "time out" mentality for children. They sit in the corner, figuring out how to get away with it next time.

Tiger Woods suffers multiple leg injuries in single-car crash in Southern California
LOS ANGELES – Tiger Woods sustained serious injuries to both of his legs in a one-car crash early Tuesday in the Los Angeles area, authorities said.
Los Angeles County officials said in a news conference that the golfing great had to be extricated from his vehicle after the crash, in which his Genesis GV80 struck the median of a street in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, rolled over multiple times and landed in the brush several hundred feet away. Woods, 45, was the only person in the car.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Woods was conscious when officers arrived on the scene and there was no evidence that he was impaired. The 15-time major champion was later transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
"He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support," Woods' longtime agent, Mark Steinberg, said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
Late Tuesday night, a statement was released via Woods' Twitter account: "We thank everyone for the overwhelming support and messages during this tough time. As previously communicated, Tiger was involved in a single-car accident earlier this morning in California. He has undergone a long surgical procedure on his lower right leg and ankle after being brought to the hospital.
"He is currently awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and hospital staff at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and the Fire Department. Your support and assistance has been outstanding."
Authorities said the crash occurred just before 7:15 a.m. PST on a downhill stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard on the border of Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates, an upscale neighborhood south of downtown Los Angeles.
Woods had been in the area for the Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour event at nearby Riviera Country Club. He hosted the event and presented the trophy but did not play because of a recent back surgery.
Area residents told USA TODAY Sports that car accidents are frequent along that particular stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard. Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, the first officer on the scene of the crash, said the speed limit there is 45 mph but he has repeatedly seen drivers touch 80 mph.
"As mentioned by the sheriff, that specific stretch of roadway is one of our trouble spots," Gonzalez said.
Authorities did not indicate how fast Woods might have been going, though Villanueva said the trajectory of the crash indicates it was "a greater speed than normal."
Gonzalez first arrived on the scene at 7:18 a.m. PST and found Woods, who was wearing his seat belt, trapped in the car. He said he made contact with the golfer, who seemed "calm and lucid" as they waited for the fire department to arrive.
"I asked him what his name was. He told me his name was Tiger," Gonzalez said. "And at that moment, I immediately recognized him."
The fire department arrived at the scene roughly 10 minutes later and began removing the front windshield of the car. Though the sheriff's department initially said authorities needed to use the Jaws of Life to get Woods out, fire Chief Daryl Osby clarified the tool was not needed.
Villanueva said the front of the car, a mid-size SUV, was "totally destroyed" but the interior was "more or less intact."
"Thankfully, the interior was more or less intact, which kind of gave him the cushion to survive what otherwise would have been a fatal crash," Villanueva said.
Authorities added that there was a second crash at the same spot later Tuesday morning as another vehicle apparently pulled over to see what happened, and was struck by a third vehicle. That crash did not result in any injuries.
The severity of Woods' leg injuries was not immediately clear as of Tuesday night, though Osby repeatedly described them as "serious" and said both of his legs were affected. Gonzalez added that Woods was unable to walk under his own power.
"I will say that it's very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive," Gonzalez said.
The Tuesday crash comes a little more than a decade after Woods was involved in a now-infamous accident outside his former Florida home. At roughly 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2009, his Cadillac Escalade hit several hedges and a fire hydrant before coming to rest after hitting a tree.

5 children die in bouncy castle accident in Australia
SYDNEY (AP) — Five children died and four others were in critical condition on Thursday after falling from a bouncy castle that was lifted 10 meters(33 feet)into the air by a gust of wind at a school on Australia's island state of Tasmania.
The school was holding a celebration to mark the end of the school year.
The children who died included two boys and two girls in year 6, which would make them 10 or 11 years old, said Tasmania police Commissioner Darren Hine. Police later Thursday confirmed a fifth child died in the hospital.
Five other children were being treated, including four in critical condition. Hine said an investigation is underway.
Images published by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation showed police officers consoling each other as paramedics provided first aid to victims.
Parents arrived at the school gate to collect their children as helicopters ferried the injured to hospitals.
Tasmania state Premier Peter Gutwein called the incident “simply inconceivable… I know this is a strong and caring community that will stand together and support one another."
Tasmania police commander Debbie Williams told reporters “several children fell from the jumping castle. It appears they may have fallen from a height of approximately 10 meters."
“This is a very tragic event and our thoughts are with the families and the wider school community and also our first responders,” Williams said.

U.S. records most hurricane-force gusts in a single day
(Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday registered the highest number of hurricane-force gusts on record in a single day, the National Weather Service (NWS) said, days after one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history.
More than55gusts of above 75mph (121kph) were recorded across a number of mostly Midwestern states, the NWS Storm Prediction Center said in a tweet, citing data up to 10:00 p.m. Central Time. The Center also registered 19 tornadoes.
Previously, in data going back to 2004, the most hurricane-force gusts in a single day was 53 on August 10, 2020, it said.
Wednesday's severe weather caused multiple power outages and disruption at Kansas City International Airport, and triggered reports of wildfires.
Seventy-four people died in Kentucky and 14 in nearby states after a tornado-riddled storm system swept through the region on Friday.

NASA spacecraft 'touches' the sun for first time in 'monumental moment for solar science'
For the first time in history, a spacecraft has "touched" the sun, scientists announced Tuesday.
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has flown through the sun’s upper atmosphere – the corona – and sampled particles and magnetic fields there. The news was announced during a meeting of the American Geophysical Union.
“Fascinatingly exciting,” said project scientist Nour Raouafi of Johns Hopkins University.
Parker Solar Probe launched in 2018 to explore the mysteries of the sun by traveling closer to it than any spacecraft before. Three years after launch and decades after first conception, Parker has finally arrived.
The probe flew through the corona in April during the spacecraft’s eighth close approach to the sun. Scientists said it took a few months to get the data back, and then several more months to confirm.
The mission "is a monumental moment for solar science and a truly remarkable feat," said NASA's Thomas Zurbuchen.
At closest approach to the sun, the front of the probe's solar shield endured temperatures approaching 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit.
"Not only does this milestone provide us with deeper insights into our sun's evolution and its impacts on our solar system, but everything we learn about our own star also teaches us more about stars in the rest of the universe," Zurbuchen said in a statement.
The $1.6-billion mission also aims to improve forecasts of major space weather events that impact life on Earth, as well as astronauts in space, NASA said. Space weather can change the orbits of satellites, shorten their lifetimes or interfere with onboard electronics.
As it circles closer to the solar surface, Parker is making new discoveries that other spacecraft were too far away to see, including from within the solar wind – the flow of particles from the sun that can influence us here on Earth.
Parker will keep drawing ever closer to the sun and diving deeper into the corona until its grand finale orbit in 2025.
The mission was named after Eugene Newman Parker, a physicist who proposed a number of concepts about how stars give off energy.
