it is the prequel i thought. While never named directly the creatures found in Prometheus were the early life forms for the xenomorphs before they look like how we know them in alien.

nope. Star Wars was the first movie to come out even though it is episode 4. The prequels were Phantom Menace, etc. So its when a movie series releases parts of the story that happen BEFORE the first movie came out in story time chronology. SO no Aliens, Alien 3, and what was it alien Resurrection would be the sequels.
