reminds me of a mullah nasruddin story – the sufi scallywag.
he tells his student he's going to fill a jug with water. he pours and pours water in the jug, but there's a big hole in the bottom, and it just runs out. nasruddin just keeps pouring.
eventually the student says – but there's a hole in the bottom of that jug, it's never going to fill up.
nasrudding says – i'm watching the top of the jug. the thing will be full when the water runs over the top. that's the only thing that counts. i have no interest in the bottom of the jug. stop paying attention to irrelevant things.
