"Barry" the Owl "dies" in Central Park after "flying low" likely "in search of food" and "making contact" with maintenance vehicles.

Isn't "making contact" a law enforcement / military term? (You don't usually see a person or animal getting hit by a vehicle described as "making contact.")

Barack Obama was known as "Barry" at Punahou High School in Honolulu, HI, and Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA, before he moved to the East Coast to (reportedly) finish college at Columbia and then Harvard Law School (where he ditched the nickname "Barry" and became known as his given name, "Barack").
