FDA approves GlaxoSmithKline shot that PREVENTS HIV infection if injected every two months
The FDA approved an injectable form of the GSK drug Apretude on Monday as a new form of HIV prevention
Apertude, which is designed to be given every two months, is an alternative to pill medications and has been approved for adults and adolescents
The effects of the new injection were found to be more effective than PrEP pill medications such as Truvada and Descovy during a trial study
The new injection will begin shipping to the US in early 2022 at the listing price of $3,700 per dose
