basically reddit needed to involve themselves, publicly of course, and attach their quest for an identity to an event best served anonymous. and like all other events, they got co-opted and doxxed themselves and made friends for temporarily whiffs of self-esteem and they will eventually make t-shirts to congratulate themselves for sitting on their duffs and getting worked up together.
