Not necessarily absurd. Have known people/groups that share credential for all kinds of accounts.
Also known people that had multiple accounts and did bad things on one while attacking it with the other.
Works great in MMO's and elsewhere on the internet.
Thought the babyfister straw man was long dead, haven't kept up on that drama as much.
