Solomon Islands accepts Chinese offer for riot police help

Chinese police officers and equipment will soon be sent to Solomon Islands to help defuse months of civil unrest, a move that is already causing anxiety for Australian officials.

Key points:

Solomon Islands' government says there is an "urgent" need to strengthen its police force

Australia sent police and defence force members to the troubled nation last month

Defence sources have told the ABC they believe Solomon Islands is the first to accept Chinese help for domestic policing

On Thursday Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare's besieged government announced it would accept Beijing's offer of assistance to strengthen its anti-riot policing capabilities.

In a statement the government said it was "mindful of the urgent need to strengthen Royal Solomon Islands Police Force capability and capacity to respond to future unrest".

"The government has agreed to accept the Peoples' Republic of China's offer of riot equipment and six Police Liaison Officers to equip and train Royal Solomon Islands Police Force with the skill sets complimenting ongoing training received under existing bilateral assistance," it said.

Last month 73 Australian Federal Police and 43 Australian Defence Force personnel were dispatched to the troubled Pacific nation following days of rioting against Mr Sogavare's government.

A decision by Solomon Islands to switch diplomatic allegiances from Taiwan to China in 2019 is one of the factors blamed for unhappiness with the Pacific nation's government.

Mr Sogavare has blamed "external factors" for the recent unrest in his country and the Premier of Malaita Province, Daniel Suidani, has been outspoken in his opposition to the national government's decision to back Beijing rather than Taipei.

Following November's riots, the federal government was relieved that the first call for help came to Canberra, rather than Beijing, but Prime Minister Scott Morrison insisted Australia was taking no part in "internal issues of the Solomon Islands".

Defence and diplomatic sources have told the ABC they believe Solomon Islands is the first government in the Pacific to accept this level of Chinese help specifically for anti-riot for domestic policing, and there are concerns more assistance will be sought from Beijing in the future.

How our ex-prime ministers spent a million bucks

On top of their pensions, in the first nine months of 2021 our six living ex-prime ministers cost taxpayers $1,086,531.

No, we are not outraged that our six former prime ministers suckle on the taxpayer teat. A few of them did some good after all. Pandemic or no pandemic, the six managed to rustle up a million dollars in expenses this year alone, report Stephanie Tran and Mark Sawyer.

Australia does a good job of looking after its former prime ministers.

We have come a long way from 1966, when Robert Menzies left The Lodge after 16 years. Australia’s longest-serving PM did not have another home to go to, and no claim on taxpayers’ generosity. So Melbourne establishment figures got him new digs in the city’s respectable eastern suburbs. In an era of scandal-shy press, nobody made much of a fuss about it.

Today, former PMs’ pensions are generous enough to afford a nice little place, though not as generous as they were, thanks to a vigorous handshake deal between John Howard and Mark Latham in 2004. The changes brokered by the Coalition and Labor limited eligibility to what was then a bottomless pit of perks for all MPs, not just PMs.

Now, only former PMs elected to Parliament before the 2004 election are entitled to the big perks that were available under the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme (PCSS). That cuts out Malcolm Turnbull and the incumbent, Scott Morrison, but not Paul Keating, John Howard, Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott.

The ghosts who waltz

Turnbull is, overall, one of our least expensive ex-PMs, if not the least expensive. But his itemised expenditure from January to September 2021 came in at $274,386.79, leading the pack of ex-PMs.

Turnbull may have memorably coined the term miserable ghost for Rudd and Abbott, but he and his superannuated colleagues in the Ex-Prime Ministers Club are no misers.

Michael West Media (MWM) has pored over the figures released by the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) on December 14.

Howard spent $256,377.74. Abbott spent $229,645.08. Keating spent $119,502.25. Rudd spent $116,506.77 and Gillard spent just $86,077.75. The same order was maintained in their office expenses, detailed below.

Despite the pandemic, their spending did not go down in 2020-21 from 2019-20.

MWM has prepared tables outlining the spending by former PMs in almost the entire period since Morrison replaced Turnbull in August 2018. The tables do not repeat the figures detailed above, which were based on nine months only, not the full year of 2021. Instead we have detailed three full years ending on September 30, 2021.

Bob Hawke, who died in May 2019, is not included on the tables. He totted up expenses of $92,717 in 2018-19 and $60 (yes, sixty dollars) in 2019-20.

Georgia Election Workers Ruby Freeman and Daughter Sue OANN and Rudy Giuliani After Filing Suit Against Gateway Pundit

On December 1, 202o, Georgia election operatives Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea “Shaye” Moss sued The Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft and Joe Hoft for allegedly conducting a “campaign of lies” against the two women that led to online and in-person harassment against them.

The organization behind the lawsuit is called Protect Democracy, a large far-left political organization.

The two women and their far-left funders targeted The Gateway Pundit after we were the first to identify the women in the late-night ballot-counting video at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta Georgia on November 3rd and the morning of the November 4th.

The Gateway Pundit was also first to report that Ruby Freeman was caught on video shoving stacks of ballots through the voting machines numerous times late at night after all of the election observers were sent home.

The anti-Trump officials in Georgia insisted that this was normal procedure in the state of Georgia. We disagree. We stand by our accurate reporting.

On Thursday Ruby and Shaye sued Rudy Giuliani and One America News Network. The two claim they were “defamed by false claims” that they committed ballot fraud in connection to the 2020 election.

Unfortunately for Ruby and Shaye we have the video. We have the facts.

Newsweek reported:

The lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., says One America News Network, a right-wing cable news channel, accused Freeman and Moss, both Fulton County, Georgia, election workers, of ballot fraud even after election officials proved that the allegations were wrong. Giuliani, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump, went on the channel frequently and also “continued to publish and amplify the lie,” according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit says Freeman and Moss, who are also mother and daughter, experienced “an immediate onslaught of violent and racist threats and harassment” caused by the false claims and are “afraid to live normal lives.” The lawsuit seeks punitive damages and a court order mandating the removal of false statements regarding Freeman and Moss from websites and media channels.

This is the second lawsuit Freeman and Moss have filed this month alleging false accusations of ballot fraud. The two filed a lawsuit against The Gateway Pundit, a conservative website, on December 2. Freeman and Moss said the website published stories with their names when claiming Republicans watching were requested to leave on election night so workers could count fraudulent ballots hidden elsewhere.

That lawsuit said identifying the two in articles alleging ballot fraud led to harassment and threats.

Australia's Chief Pharmacist Says Public Needs To Accept Boosters & Mask Mandates For "Many Years" To Come

Australia’s chief pharmacist says the public “just need to accept” they will have to take regular vaccine booster shots and continue wearing masks for “many years” to come.

Asserting that the bio-security police state will become a permanent fixture, Trent Twomey, National President of the Pharmacy Guild, says Aussies will have to get a COVID booster jab “every six months” if that’s what experts tell them to do.

“I think booster shots, just like your annual influenza shot [are] something we just need to accept, its [Covid-19] not going to be with us for many weeks and months, it’s going to be with us for many years,” said Twomey.

The chief pharmacist stressed that in order to be considered “fully vaccinated” by authorities, people would have to get “a periodic inoculation.”

Vatican Issues Vaccine Mandate for All Employees, Visitors

ROME, Italy — The Vatican has eliminated the possibility of employees presenting a negative coronavirus test to gain access to their place of work, insisting that only proof of vaccination or recovery from the coronavirus disease will be admitted.

A Vatican decree Thursday signed by Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin states that the obligation of presenting a vaccine passport (Super Green Pass) to go to work applies to all personnel of the Roman Curia and institutions linked to the Holy See as well as external collaborators, visitors to the Vatican City State, and outside workers.

In a particularly severe paragraph, Cardinal Parolin declares that personnel without a valid green pass “will not be able to access the workplace and will be considered unjustifiably absent, with the consequent suspension of pay for the duration of the absence” and will be subject to the further consequences that such an absence would incur.

As of January 31, 2022, those who provide Vatican service in contact with the public must present “documentation proving the administration of the booster dose following the primary cycle of vaccination.”

The decree mentions no exemptions for conscientious objection based on moral considerations.

In its 2021 evaluation of the morality of taking the coronavirus vaccines, the Vatican’s doctrinal office (CDF) concluded that the vaccines are morally permissible but that the choice to receive or not receive the vaccine must be considered “voluntary.”

California education 'equity' official resigns because she lives in Texas

Kadakia is the second California education equity official to depart in recent weeks.

The California Department of Education's equity project manager has resigned due to the fact she lives in Texas.

Pamela Kadakia worked for the California state department while living in Texas, according to Politico. Additionally, the Lone Star State is on California's state-funded travel ban list.

California law mandates that state employees live there unless they need to live in another location for their work, such as lobbying in D.C.

Kadakia is the second California education equity official to depart in recent weeks. The Golden State's first superintendent of equity, Daniel Lee, resigned earlier this month. Politico reported how Lee lived in Philadelphia while collecting a salary of more than $161,000 from the state of California.

The California Department of Education issued a statement Thursday to Politico, confirming that Kadakia left the agency.

"We sought to ensure that all our personnel were in line with the new guidance," the department stated. “In doing so, we accepted Ms. Kadakia’s resignation."

Fourth woman accuses Chris Noth of sexual assault: ‘We should have our day in court’

A fourth woman came forward Thursday to accuse “Sex and the City” actor Chris Noth of sexual assault, this time over an alleged incident in 2002.

New York singer Lisa Gentile claimed Noth accosted her sexually in her apartment after giving her a ride home from the eatery Da Marino in Midtown, then threatened to ruin her career if she ever spoke out.

“I was afraid to come forward because Mr. Noth’s power and his threats to ruin my career,” Gentile said at a press conference with her attorney, Gloria Allred.

The singer-songwriter said that she had first met him there in 1998 because he was a “regular there and good friends with the owner Pasquale Marino.”

“I would often see Chris dining and hanging out there when I would visit Da Marino with my family and my friends,” she said.

As she was getting ready to leave the eatery on the night of the alleged attack in 2002, he offered to give her a ride home, she said.

“When we arrived at my apartment, he asked if he could come up. I told him I had nothing to offer him to drink,” Gentile said. “And he said, ‘That’s okay.’ He just wanted to see where I lived.”

While in the apartment, Noth started kissing her in her kitchen “almost right away,” she said.

“Then he leaned against the kitchen countertop and forcibly pulled me against him. He was slobbering all over me. I quickly became uncomfortable,” Gentile said.

Gentile said he “became more aggressive” and pushed her bra up despite her protests.

“I was trying to get him to stop. Then he forced my hands to pull up his shirt exposing his belly and then even harder, he pushed my hands down toward his penis,” she said. “I finally managed to push him away and get out of his grasp. And yell, ‘No, I don’t want this.'”

She claimed that he became “extremely angry and started screaming and calling me a tease and a bitch” before storming out of her apartment.

The next day, she claimed, he called her on her roommate’s phone and threatened her.

“He warned me that if I ever told a soul about what happened the night before that he would ruin my career . . . And that he would blacklist me in the business,” she said.

“He hung up on me and I immediately called my mother and father crying.”

She said that she was speaking out now to support Noth’s other accusers.

“I feel that we should have our day in court to hold Mr. Noth accountable for what he did,” she said.

The first two accusers came forward to the Hollywood Reporter with their sexual assault allegations against him, describing in a story published last week how he lured them to private areas and forced himself on them in separate incidents in 2004 and 2015.

One of the women said that his return to his “Sex and the City” character Mr. Big in the sequel “And Just Like That…” prompted her to go public with the allegations.

The third woman, a tech executive, later told The Daily Beast that Noth allegedly forced himself on her in 2010 in the back office of Da Marino, the same restaurant where Gentile met him.

A rep for Noth — who was dropped from the CBS series “The Equalizer” in the wake of the accusations Monday — didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest claims.

He has previously denied the other accusations, insisting that he “would never cross that line.”

“The alleged accounts detailed throughout read like a piece of bad fiction,” a rep told The Post in a statement.

Santa's List of Naughty Commie Scumbags Who Dare to Call Themselves Americans

Santa rides tomorrow and I’m guessing his list is set. He knows who is a true American and he knows who the pinkos are. Let’s take a look at some of the worst “Marxist Americans” currently polluting our country.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio

In his final month in office, Comrade de Blasio decided he would mandate vaccines for all private-sector employees. Like a good apparatchik, he keeps destroying until he is replaced, which is in about a week.

I’m not even sure if this is a fascist move or more of a Nazi ploy, but it DOES seem unconstitutional. As if turning the Big Apple into a war zone wasn’t enough, he spends his last days forcing mandates on a city he will no longer preside over. Commies always seem to fail upward, and this man is political herpes. Rumor has it he will run for New York governor.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Just a hunch, but I don’t think Lori Lightfoot is going to win a beauty pageant. She might take the “Commie of the Year” trophy, however.

If you live in Chicago you have one day to get in your last-minute Christmas shoplifting, and Lightfoot and her state’s attorney, Kim Foxx, are making it easy. If you generously steal less than $1,000 worth of swag, you’ll be fine. Even if you’re a violent felon, chances are good you’ll skate out of jail to commit more crimes. Almost 60 criminals released on bond were re-arrested after committing a violent crime in 2021, including one thug who was arrested for shooting a 17-year-old over a pot deal. Imagine how many others didn’t get caught.

Joy Reid

You can’t have a true Marxist regime without a Pinocchio press to spread the lies and squash the truth, and nobody plays the part of Democrat lapdog as well as Reid.
