The loud SNAP or 'snap' like a .22, of a long bull whip is made because the very tip end of the whip actually BREAKS THE SOUND BARRIER due to the exponential increase in whip velocity towards the end of the long whip after the individual cracks/snaps his wrist with the requisite force, speed and timing to create a decreasing Fibonacci Spiral of curves.

I tried using an actual whip of the size ONCE, as I bloodied and nearly tore off my dern ear. One of those things I learned the hard way to only try once.
