New York Democrats Push Bill to Curb ‘Disinformation’ on Social Media

State legislators in the Democrat stronghold of New York are pushing a bill that would allow lawsuits to be brought against tech companies that spread so-called misinformation.

The bill would allow the New York attorney general, city corporations, as well as private citizens to sue tech companies that “knowingly or recklessly” promote information that “endangers the health or safety of the public,” a category that, according to Democrat state senator, would encompass “hate speech” as well as disinformation.

Legal experts contacted by the New York Post argue that Hoylman’s bill is unlikely to stand up in court.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg adds Hawaii reservoir to assets

The tech billionaire and his wife, Priscilla Chan, recently scooped up 110 additional acres of agricultural land on the island of Kauai, which includes most of a century-old reservoir once used by a sugar plantation operator, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

The $17 million purchase comes after Zuckerberg spent $100 million on 700 acres in Kauai in 2014 and then $53 million on 600 nearby acres in April, the newspaper adds. On that combined 1,300-acre property is the couple’s Hawaii residence.

Viewers demand apology from MSNBC, Rachel Maddow for previous COVID vaccine comments

Social media users demanded apologies from Rachel Maddow and MSNBC over the liberal host's insistence in March that the COVID-19 vaccine stops the virus dead in its tracks and prevents further transmission.

"Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person," Maddow said on her show the evening of March 29, 2021.

"A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus, the virus does not infect them, the virus cannot then use that person to go anywhere else," she added with a shrug. "It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to go get more people."

Citing COVID-19, Maxwell judge asks jury to work longer hours

"We now face a high and escalating risk that jurors and/or trial participants may need to quarantine," U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan told the attorneys of the trial, Reuters reported.

"We are very simply at a different place regarding the epidemic than we were even a week ago," said Nathan. The jury will have until 6 p.m. to deliberate and will be afforded an additional hour if a verdict is not reached.
