Ge Sun is Director of the EFETAC research unit. He is a research hydrologist and a USDA professor of hydrology at North Carolina State University. He joined the USDA Forest Service Southern Global Change Program through North Carolina State University in 1997, and became a federal scientist in 2003. Over the past thirty years, he has conducted hydrological research on various forest ecosystems around the world. He has authored more than 300 journal articles and book chapters. His research focus is on regional and national assessments of climate change and forest management impacts on water and carbon resources using eddy flux towers, paired watersheds, and integrated simulation models. He has served as a forestry expert for the Forest Service International Programs mission in Asia, Africa, and Mexico. He has received several distinguished awards including Fellow of the American Water Resources Association and Forest Service Chief’s Distinguished Science Award in recognition of his forest hydrology research productivity and leadership. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees fromBeijing Forestry Universityand a Ph.D. in Forest Hydrology and Watershed Management from the University of Florida.
