"Used to be fascinated with AI.
Took computer courses, electronics coursed, etc.
AI is a myth.. Computers will only be as smart as their programs, they are machines, not capable of emotions, etc.
Computers cannot build new circuits inside themselves for further learning, like we can with new synapsis in our brain."
I believe it is possible for a computer to be purposed with AI to build new circuits for themselves as opposed to inside themselves. Consider a computer with a standard interface to which an external board can be connected. You see these in things like the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Consider a much more powerful platform with an interface to a board capable of significant co-processing. AI could theorize what type of processing would be beneficial to it, goal oriented so to speak. It could then proceed to design circuitry to accomplish said offload and simulate it in SPICE or other circuit simulators. Once it has iterated to the point of a strong enough indicator to warrant fabrication, it could interface with a 3d printer capable of printing circuitry directly on a PC board. Once fabricated, it could instruct robotics to move the produced board over to its interface connectors, attach power if needed, etc. The computer designed and fabricated board becomes functional, the results are measured, compared to what the AI goals were, and if achieved, the computer has extended its capabilities. If not, the AI learns where the design was inadequate, iterates some more until it has a new design to try.
This allows the computer to iterate, learn, and grow, without human intervention.
