It's practically impossible for a 'public figure' to sue for libel in the US.

To be found guilt of libel a plaintiff must prove that the defendant showed "a reckless disregard for indications of probable falsity,"

This has been held to mean a plain toiff must prove the defendant was warned in some way that the story was false and ignored that warning. In other words impossible to prove if the libel is committed by an editor at TIME or the New Yorker thoroughly familiar with the statutes.

Bringing a libel suit in a conservative legal jurisdiction may secure a victory which will almost inevitably be overturned by the more heavily infiltrates circuit courts of appeals.

Anon would contend that libel of a sitting president at the behest of a seditious organization or entity, which being treason, has no high bar to limit successful prosecution.
