In the other screenshot from my sister it shows that she never received the link. The text message it still has the fox in it. I hope this helps. South Africa's Parliament Building "Severely Damaged" After Massive Fire

One day after Desmond Tutu, the retired Archbishop of Cape Town who rose to prominence as the first black leader of the Anglican Church in South Africa to become a leader in the anti-apartheid struggle, was laid to rest, a massive fire ripped through the Houses of Parliament on Sunday.

Fire erupted at the South African Parliament building in Cape Town on Sunday morning, sending plumes of smoke into the air visible across the capital.

Video from the scene showed flames shooting out of the building. Firefighters arrived on the scene, and it was reported that the fire was still not under control by afternoon. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities.

"The entire parliamentary complex is severely damaged, waterlogged and smoke damaged," JP Smith, a Cape Town mayoral committee member responsible for safety and security, said.

"The second point of fire is the National Assembly building, which is gutted," Smith said, referring to the building where the Parliament meets. "The structural ceiling has collapsed. The fire staff had to be momentarily withdrawn."

Investigators are still not sure what caused the blaze.

"They will have to determine how the fire spread from the one blaze to the second blaze," Smith said, "because these are two very distinct areas."

President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived on the scene to inspect the damage on Sunday afternoon.

Parliamentary officials are not aware if the fire destroyed government documents. However, "offices belonging to lawmakers in the African National Congress as well as in two smaller opposition parties — the Good Party and the National Freedom Party — were among those badly damaged," NYTimes said.

This is a tragic way to start the New Year considering the country is still vulnerable to political and social unrest and COVID-19 outbreaks.

Texas Audit Finds Over 11,000 Potential Non-Citizens Registered To Vote, Other Problems

Voting irregularities—including potentially thousands of votes cast by non-citizens and the dead—were reported during the first phase of the Texas Secretary of State’s forensic audit of the 2020 general election, but critics deemed it more of a risk-limiting audit at this point.

The Texas Secretary of State’s office released its findings on Dec. 31, but the issues found are not enough to significantly impact 2020 election results of the four counties involved in the audit—Collin, Dallas, Harris, and Tarrant counties—which account for about 10 million people, or a third of the Texas population.

“Generally speaking, nothing was found on such a large scale that could have altered any election,” said Sam Taylor, assistant secretary of state for communications, in an interview with The Epoch Times.

Findings include:

Statewide, a total of 11,737 potential non-U.S. citizens were identified as being registered to vote. Of these, 327 records were identified in Collin County, 1,385 in Dallas County, 3,063 in Harris County, and 708 in Tarrant County. So far, Dallas County has canceled 1,193 of these records, with Tarrant County canceling one. Neither Collin nor Harris have canceled any potential non-voting records.

Since November 2020, 224,585 deceased voters have been removed from the voter rolls in Texas. Collin County removed 4,889 deceased voters, Dallas County removed 14,926 deceased voters, Harris County removed 23,914 deceased voters, and Tarrant County removed 13,955 deceased voters.

Statewide, a total of 67 potential votes cast in the name of deceased people are under investigation. Of those, three were cast in Collin County, nine in Dallas County, four in Harris County, and one in Tarrant County.

In a review of each county’s partial manual count report required under Texas law, three of the four counties reported discrepancies between ballots counted electronically versus those counted by hand. The reported reasons for these discrepancies will be investigated and verified during Phase 2 of the audit.

Taylor said the state’s audit, currently moving into its second phase, was a first-of-its-kind for Texas.

Secretary of State John Scott portrayed the audit as the country’s “most comprehensive forensic audit of the 2020 election,” according to a November press release. He added the audit will use “analytical tools to examine the literal nuts and bolts of election administration to determine if any illegal activity may have occurred.”

EU flag taken down after backlash in France

The flag of the European Union was removed from the Arc de Triomphe after protests from conservative politicians

Conservative rivals of French President Emmanuel Macron said the EU flag underneath the Arc de Triomphe in Paris was an attack on “French identity,” and was taken down soon after the wave of outrage.

President Emmanuel Macron’s office told French media that the blue flag with 12 golden stars was removed on Sunday “in accordance with the planned schedule.”

Secretary of State for European Affairs Clement Beaune also denied that the removal was related to the backlash from conservatives. “I’m proud that this symbol was displayed under the Arc de Triomphe,” he said.

The European flag was placed under the monument on New Year’ Eve to mark the beginning of France’s six-month presidency in the Council of the European Union, one of the bloc’s decision-making bodies. France has assumed the role for the first time since 2008. Government buildings and cultural landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre, were illuminated in blue for the occasion.

Several right-wing politicians, including Macron’s rivals in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for April, said it was disrespectful to place the EU flag instead of the French tricolor on the Arc de Triomphe, a war memorial adjacent to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Valerie Pecresse, a presidential candidate from the Republicans party, protested against the “erasure of the French identity” and urged that the EU flag be removed. Marine Le Pen, also a candidate and former leader of the National Rally party, accused Macron of “arrogant contempt for our history.”

After the flag was taken down, Le Pen tweeted that the removal of the EU flag was a “beautiful patriotic victory at the dawn of 2022,” thanking the “massive mobilization of all those who love France and the Republic.”

In 2022, More Humans, Including Children are Enslaved Than Ever Before in History—We Must Do Better

Despite massive leaps and bounds in technology and quality of life across the planet, there is still a very dark problem and it is hiding in plain sight. Slavery. According to the most recent data, there are over 40 million people in slavery with 1 in 4 of them being children. Its scope is massive and so are its profits — raking in around $150 billion annually.

An estimated 40.3 million people are in some form of slavery in 167 countries around the world, according to the Global Slavery Index published by the Walk Free Foundation. This number is the highest it has ever been.

An article published in Psychology Today reminds us of the ominous state of the free world. “Never before in human history have this many people been enslaved,” write Jenny Hwang and Shayne Moore in their report on the heart-rending data about child trafficking.

In the US, child trafficking is a growing problem in all 50 states. Children, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old.

As the recent verdict in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial shows us, the problem goes all the way to the top.

Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns.

As investigative journalist Amy Fine Collins notes, “It’s become more lucrative and much safer to sell malleable teens than drugs or guns. A pound of heroin or an AK-47 can be retailed once, but a young girl can be sold 10 to 15 times a day—and a ‘righteous’ pimp confiscates 100 percent of her earnings.”

Shockingly enough, the research shows the majority of sex trafficked children in North America (US and Canada) come from government welfare programs. The authors of this research project note that domestic sex trafficking is a growing crime in Canada, and the majority of victims are children and youth who are or were in the Child Welfare (CW) system. It is the same in the United States too.

While many think that the state taking children from parents is a noble gesture to protect the child, all too often, the state removes kids from a bad situation and throws them into a situation akin to a horror film. Many times the children are taken from caring parents, who happened to hit a rough patch in their lives, and thrown into torturous and outright sadistic situations where they end up raped, tortured, and even murdered.

According to the government’s own data, the vast majority of a portion of these trafficked kids are coming from the government system who promises to keep them safe—a horrifying irony indeed. But it appears to be set up this way.

Five missing teenage girls found, 30 sex offenders arrested in New Orleans

A law enforcement operation in the New Orleans area led to the discovery of five missing teenagers and 30 sex offender arrests, authorities announced.

The US Marshals Service revealed in a press release that in an annual multi-agency initiative dubbed “Operation Boo Dat,” conducted between mid-October and Dec. 24, 17 of the arrests were of those accused of felony sex offender registration violations. All five of the found teenagers were girls ranging between the ages of 14 and 17, according to the news release.

US Marshals said Monday that among the arrests were one of a man wanted for raping 12-year-old girl victim in an abandoned home on the West Bank of New Orleans. Another man was arrested for an alleged sexual assault of 14-year-old girl in June in San Patricio County, Texas, according to the US Marshals.

Of the discoveries of the missing teenage girls’, one was a 16-year-old who ran away from her home in Marrero, New Orleans, by allegedly stealing a relative’s car and a handgun, according to the release. That girl was was discovered in a home with “multiple adults including a strip club dancer,” the US marshal service said.

Two of the other discoveries were sisters ages 15 and 16 who were found in an apartment in Baton Rouge who “may be victims of adult(s) felony criminal sexual activities,” the US Marshals said.

“During Operation Boo Dat over one hundred sex offender compliance checks were also attempted or completed in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes,” said the US Marshal Service. “Sex Offender compliance checks require law enforcement officers to go to the sex offender’s reported address of residence to verify that the person still lives at the provided address. Often countless hours of follow up investigative work are required during and after a compliance check.”

The US Marshals Service said it carried out the operation along with the New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and USMS New Orleans Task Force.

Little Rock police chief put on leave after NYE shooting in ‘unprecedented’ move

The Little Rock police chief will be put on leave after he shot at an armed woman, the city’s mayor announced Saturday.

The move came after on New Year’s Eve just before 9 p.m., Chief Keith Humphrey saw a fight in a parking lot and as Humphrey got out of his car, a woman fired her weapon into the group, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Humphrey then reportedly fired his weapon at the suspected shooter, 29-year-old Taz Hayes.

Hayes was uninjured and police later took her into custody, but Hayes’ gunfire injured a 22-year-old woman, who was rushed to a Little Rock hospital and was in critical condition as of Saturday morning, according to a police sheet cited by Fox 16.

On Saturday afternoon, Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. confirmed Humphrey’s involvement in the shooting, announcing he will be put on administrative leave in accordance with the department’s standard protocol.

On New Year’s Eve, Little Rock Police Chief Keith Humphrey initiated an all-hands-on-deck approach to patrol, just as he’s done in the past, and required command staff to patrol the city. While patrolling, Chief Humphrey saw a disturbance that, unfortunately, led to a shooting,” he said in a statement. “Chief Humphrey also fired his weapon at the suspected shooter, as is customary practice in an officer-involved shooting, he has been put on administrative leave.”

Scott added that the Arkansas State Police will be investigating the incident and that Assistant Chief Crystal Haskins will temporarily serve as chief of police.

Exploding meteor blamed for ground shaking, loud boom in Pittsburgh

Don’t look up, Pittsburgh.

Officials from the National Weather Service believe that a meteor exploded in the Pittsburgh area on New Year’s Day after residents reported feeling the ground shaking and hearing a massive boom.

Allegheny County officials tweeted Saturday that county 911 officials had received reports from South Hills and other areas about the disturbance.

NWS could not confirm for certain that a meteor was the case, but data showed a flash in the area that wasn’t lightning around 11:26 a.m. — around the time residents reported the loud noise and ground trembling.

Residents around suburban Pittsburgh reported feeling their homes shaking and rattling while a loud noise rang out in the region. Jill Tarasi, 42, said she was sitting on her couch in Hampton when the boom hit.

The NWS called exploding space rocks “the most likely explanation at this time,” in a tweet Saturday.

Shannon Hefferan, a meteorologist with the service in Moon Township, told TribLive that a similar event was reported Sept. 17 in Hardy County, West Virginia.

Professor’s redefinition of pedophilia could help offenders demand rights

On Nov. 8, Old Dominion sociology and criminology professor Allyn Walker gave an interview in which he asserted the need to destigmatize pedophiles by redefining them as “minor-attracted persons” (MAPs). Walker stated, “We have a tendency to want to categorize people with these attractions as evil or morally corrupt,” and that when people “hear the term ‘pedophile,’ they automatically assume that it means a sex offender, and that isn’t true.”

Shortly after this interview, students at Old Dominion protested over the professor’s attempt to obfuscate the nature of sexual predators. Although the university furloughed Walker, the professor continued to defend his stance while attacking his critics as hostile to academic freedom and misguided by “rightwing media.”

The Walker incident is not a standalone event. In fact, his advocacy for pedophiles highlights the crisis that critical theory poses for higher education, as it attempts to dismantle every social taboo and normalize every form of immoral conduct.

In his book, “A Long, Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity,” published by the University of California press, Walker derives “MAPs” as a new term for pedophiles from a group called B4U-ACT. Dedicated to “compassionate assistance” in the form of therapy and advocacy for pedophiles, the group also publishes its own research journal. In the introduction of “A Long, Dark Shadow,” Walker attempts to explain the difference between a “minor-attracted person” and pedophile by swapping words based on the stigma they carry. On the first page of the book, Walker states that “B4U-ACT uses the term MAPs, rather than the term ‘pedophile,’ to decrease stigma against this group.” Walker adopts the same term for the same reason.

The politics of sexual identity permeate the introduction of “A Long Dark Shadow.” There, Walker advocates for the inclusion of MAPs as part of the larger LGBT community by approaching attraction to minors as an orientation, and stating that “the fact of children’s inability to consent to sex is irrelevant to the application of the term ‘sexual orientation’ towards attractions to minors.” Walker tacitly recognizes the threat that pedophiles pose, while also focusing on “coping methods” and “strategies for non-offending” MAPs.

Redefinition carries consequences, and the left boasts a long history of redefining words to shatter traditional beliefs. In June, the Biden administration replaced “mother” as a term with “birthing person” in the 2022 budget. Multiple states and government agencies have replaced “illegal alien” with “undocumented immigrant,” while California switched “homeless” with the term “unhoused” to retain control of narratives and debates on the issue.

EU Parliament Member Wants Founders of Vaccine Corp on Euro Banknotes

A German Member of the European Parliament (MEP) has suggested that the founders of BioNTech, which developed the Pfizer vaccine, should be put on euro currency banknotes.

According to a suggestion by one German MEP, the two founders of vaccine company BioNTech (Biopharmaceutical New Technologies) should be put on upcoming redesigned Euro currency banknotes.

The suggestion comes after the European Central Bank (ECB) announced that the bills would be getting a rework by 2024 in the hopes of making the notes “more relatable”.

According to a report by Die Welt, German MEP Moritz Körner has suggested that the founders of BioNTech, Turkish-Germans Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci, should be put on the bills.

“Important European personalities such as the BioNTech founding couple Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci should be printed on the new euro bills,” the publication reports Körner as saying.

“[Their] work has saved the lives of millions of Europeans. [Their] journey through life is an impressive story of integration, advancement, entrepreneurship, scientific excellence and the potential of an open immigration society.”

The publication notes that the two founders have made a billion-dollar fortune via the vaccine developed by their company with Pfizer.

Chief Justice John Roberts asserted the independence of the federal courts from what he called “inappropriate political influence,” in a year-end report released Friday that comes amid widespread political criticism of the Supreme Court, and calls to dramatically reform its structure.

As head of the federal judiciary, the chief justice of the United States summarized a dramatic year at his court and the 107 district and appeals courts across the country.

“Decisional independence is essential to due process, promoting impartial decision-making, free from political or other extraneous influence,” said Roberts. Of equal importance, “The Judiciary’s power to manage its internal affairs insulates courts from inappropriate political influence and is crucial to preserving public trust in its work as a separate and co-equal branch of government.”

Roberts, who has led the court since 2005, made his remarks on the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Judicial Conference, the federal courts’ internal administrative and policy-making body, led by the chief justice and composed of rotating federal judges.

He said the Conference has been focused on ensuring the courts run effectively despite disruptions caused by the pandemic, as well as unspecified cybersecurity threats.
