Sudan's PM resigns after failing to restore civilian government

Sudan’s civilian Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok resigned on Sunday as deadly protests continue after October’s coup. Hamdok, who was reinstated by military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan as the country’s civilian leader in November, said in a televised address that recent mediation attempts had failed, adding, “I have tried my best to stop the country from sliding towards disaster.” Anti-coup protests have continued, leaving at least 54 dead, while internet services have been disrupted.
