Attack - 23nm West Ras Isa Marine terminal
Reporting indicates that a MV has been attacked offshore of Ras Isa Marine Terminal
The UKMTO has reportedly received reports that an MV has been attacked in position 15°13.0N 042°12.0E, approximately 23nm West of Ras Isa Marine Terminal. Investigations are ongoing.
Assessment:
Whilst conflict onshore in Yemen has been ongoing and there are frequent reports of the Saudi-led Coalition intercepting water-bourne improvised explosive devices (WBIED's), there have been no reported incidents in this area in the past 2 years. The most recent incident in this area was the hijacking of Saudi Arabian flagged tug boat escorting a drilling rig in November 2019.
