Emma Watson’s post in support of Palestine unleashed a furious debate online

Israel’s current and former ambassadors to the UN have hounded ‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson online for sharing a message of “solidarity” with Palestinian activists. The diplomats have since been slammed by all sides.

Watson shared an image to her Instagram account on Sunday depicting a crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters and the text “Solidarity is a verb.” Her non-specific call to action also included a poem by activist Sara Ahmed describing “solidarity” as “the recognition that even if we do not have the same feelings, or the same lives, or the same bodies, we do live on common ground.”

The post quickly drew the ire of Israel’s diplomats, with current UN ambassador Gilad Erdan musing about using magic to “eliminate the evils” of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, and former UN ambassador Danny Danon tweeting “10 points from Gryffindor for being an antisemite.”

Danon’s tweet was met with furious backlash from all sides of the conflict. Israeli writer Abraham Gutman described the former envoy’s argument as “dehumanizing to Palestinians and a mockery to actual antisemitism.”

“I remember back when Israel's apologists made an effort to justify their smears,” Al Jazeera analyst Omar Baddar tweeted. “Now they don't bother … It's hard to know whether to laugh or cry!”

“Equating support for Palestinians to antisemitism presumes that repression of the Palestinian people is an inherently Jewish quality, which is the real antisemitic sentiment here,” another commenter wrote.

Meanwhile in Israel, Defense Minister Benny Gantz hosted Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in his home last week, the first time Abbas has met a senior Israeli official inside Israel in over a decade. Though the meeting was criticized by the right-wing opposition and hardliners within Israel’s coalition government, Gantz said he would sit down with the Palestinian leader again, arguing that those responsible for sending soldiers into war must “do everything to prevent it.”

As Gantz and Abbas met, however, Israeli tanks shelled Hamas outposts near Gaza City, in retaliation for the wounding of an Israeli civilian near the border fence between Israel and Gaza, near the Israeli city of Ashkelon.

Illegal immigrant children “passing through” Pennsylvania are landing at an orphanage in New York in an apparent adoption production line.

We reported on a planeload of illegal immigrants arriving in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in December. This was not the first report of a planeload of illegal aliens landing in Pennsylvania. In response to this issue, Pennsylvania’s Democrat Governor Wolf shared that the illegal immigrants landing in his state were children that “passed through” the state.

However, this was not the case because we identified a potential match on a man wanted for murder in Mexico who deboarded one of these flights into Pennsylvania.

Hundreds of flights were chartered from the Southern border to states across the country and to and from foreign locations in 2021. We provided the flights on only one chartered plane on the little-known “World Atlantic” airlines. This is only the flights for one plane used in Biden’s illegal immigrant invasion into the US. How many more planes are used in the illegal operation?

Today we have information showing that some of the children that Governor Wolf seems to believe are that big of a deal coming into the country along the Southern Border and flown to the Northeast are being shipped to a location in New York. The governor was correct in saying ‘children passed through’ but the number of adults on the flights appears to be material and includes some criminal characters, and the Governor’s lack of concern for these children is sad as well

Despite False Miscarriage And HIV Test Results, Elizabeth Holmes Escaped Charges Of Fraud Against Patients

For those that didn't see the headline yesterday, former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes was found guilty on 4 counts of fraud and conspiracy after weeks of deliberation and a trial that almost ended with a deadlocked jury.

In a note jurors sent to the judge overseeing the Holmes trial on Monday morning, jurors said that they had been unable to reach a unanimous verdict on 3 of the 11 counts against Holmes, the WSJ reported, raising the specter of a hung jury.

But by the afternoon, the jury was able to return a unanimous decision.

Most surprisingly was that Holmes was found guilty of defrauding investors, but wasn't found guilty of any charges involving defrauding patients. As the Wall Street Journal reported this morning, that is especially surprising given the nature of the testimony given by patients during the trial.

Among the testimony was stories from numerous patients describing test results that they believed were "simply wrong", the Journal wrote. One such result told a woman she could be HIV positive; another incorrectly told a pregnant woman that she could be miscarrying.

Scientists from drug companies testified that Theranos' technology was "unimpressive", the Journal wrote. One even called Holmes "cagey".

CDC Admits 61% Of Teens Hospitalized For COVID-19 Had Severe Obesity

One of the only silver linings of the pandemic has been that young people are less affected by COVID-19 than the elderly. In fact, the most vital indicator of negative COVID-19 outcomes is age: Unlike the Spanish flu, which ravaged armies that were overwhelmingly comprised of otherwise healthy young people during World War I, COVID-19's death toll is dramatically skewed toward those who have already lived many years. (For context, the average age of death from Spanish flu was 28.)

That said, about 600 Americans under the age of 18 have died of COVID-19 during the pandemic. A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) took a closer look at young people who were hospitalized for COVID-19 in July and August, while the delta variant wave took hold, and largely found that healthy young people continue to mostly evade the worst of COVID-19.

The study found that most young people who suffer severe COVID-19 outcomes had underlying health conditions. The most common, especially for teenagers, was obesity.

"Among patients aged 12–17 years, 61.4 percent had obesity," according to the study, "60.5 percent of whom had severe obesity."

The study looked at six U.S. hospitals—all of them in the American South—and evaluated 915 cases of COVID-19 in adolescents that required hospitalization. The vast majority were hospitalized for COVID-19, though some had other infections as well. Of the 713 patients who were primarily hospitalized for COVID-19, two-thirds had at least one underlying health condition. For the teenage cohort—patients at least 12 years of age—the obesity rate was 61.4 percent. The severe obesity rate was 60.5 percent. Just one of the eligible patients had been vaccinated, and 11 patients died in total.

What this means, of course, is that COVID-19 can be a fatal disease, even for young people - but vaccine status and general health are extremely important variables. It remains the case that healthy children who do not have underlying health conditions—particularly obesity—are by and large safe from negative COVID-19 health outcomes.

"Compared with patients without obesity, those with obesity required higher levels and longer duration of care," wrote the study's authors.

"These findings are consistent with previous reports and highlight the importance of obesity and other medical conditions as risk factors for severe COVID-19 in children and adolescents."

The left — armed with their militant “fact checkers” whose opinions are wielded like swords against anyone who challenges the official narrative — became the regime of authoritarian information controllers. Joe Biden Has Spent Over 25 Percent of his Presidency on Vacation.

The President of the United States has been AWOL as the country continues through crisis upon crisis.

Joe Biden has spent 95 of his 348 days President on vacation, mostly in Delaware. That equates to a quarter of the Biden regime’s first year in office, at the time of writing, being spent doing anything other than being President during one of the most crisis-ridden times in modern human history.

Biden went back to Delaware just two and a half weeks after being sworn into office. His trips back and forth to his home state for “personal time” have been celebrated by the far-left media. They congratulate the 79-year-old for chasing his dogs around but at least he’s not playing golf.

By October 2021, Biden had sought refuge in Delaware at least 25 times. Only on one vacation did he take time away from relaxing to do his job, when he visited Dover Air Force Base for the homecoming of the 11 service members killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan. The service members were murdered in the terror attack during Biden’s failed exit from Afghanistan and Biden was mostly noted for repeatedly checking his watch that day, for when he could leave.

Biden choosing to vacation during the fall of Kabul is just one example of the many times the President has disappeared during a major international crisis.

Other examples include his choice to vacation instead of visiting the southern border amidst the largest organized crime, human smuggling and trafficking in modern history. The Biden regime has overseen a more than 110 percent increase apprehensions of unaccompanied minors along the US southern border with Mexico.

Not only is Biden failing to take personal time to visit the southern border, but he’s also ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to stop arresting the tsunami of human smugglers that his inaction has created.

Biden has further chosen to stay inside his $2.74 million Wilmington, Delaware beach house as his office claims the COVID-19 pandemic is going to kill Americans throughout the winter months.

Every time Biden decides to go to Delaware, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control are forced to shut off the immediate area. Local law enforcement attempt to keep the shutdowns as brief as possible, as they inconvenience local residents, but have no real control over how much the Biden’s consistently inconvenience their neighbors in Delaware with their consistent vacations.

Most recently, the President of the United States returned to Washington, D.C. during a snow storm, meaning no one else was working, and his appearance in the nation’s capital was precisely just that: an appearance.

Ghislaine Maxwell attended Vanity Fair party after killed Epstein exposé

Ghislaine Maxwell yukked it up with celebrities at a Vanity Fair Oscar party — years after the magazine killed an exposé detailing her role in aiding pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s sex abuse of girls.

The 60-year-old madam was photographed in a glam, sparkly evening dress at the party in West Hollywood in March 2014.

Maxwell was shown grinning widely in a series of photos at the event, hugging one guest in a suit and posing beside the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, who later insisted she photobombed him.

The party was thrown by Vanity Fair’s then-editor-in-chief, Graydon Carter — who’d also been at the helm in 2002 when the mag refused to run an interview with Annie Farmer, one of the four accusers whose testimony led to Maxwell’s recent sex-trafficking conviction.

The magazine’s then-star journalist, Vicky Ward, last week revealed a transcript of Maxwell angrily demanding that VF nix the interview from a piece on Epstein. Ward noted how Epstein also “paid a visit to Graydon Carter at the Vanity Fair offices” before the article was spiked.

Months later, the magazine instead wrote a society profile titled “The Talented Mr. Epstein,” starting with glowing praise about the “charming,” “enigmatic” and “very generous” multimillionaire.

In the 2002 article, Epstein bragged about his ties to the rich and powerful, including Prince Andrew and former President Bill Clinton, and called Maxwell his “best friend.”

Epstein would go on to plead guilty to soliciting sex from a minor in 2008 and later be charged with sex-trafficking, including of underage girls, before he hanged himself in a Manhattan lockup in 2019 while awaiting trial. Maxwell was arrested on related sex-raps in 2020 and convicted last month.

Ward last week said it was her “eternal regret” that Vanity Fair refused to run the damning interview with Farmer and her older sister, Maria, detailing the now-notorious late pedophile’s abuse and Maxwell’s role in it.

“I submitted the story to my bosses at Vanity Fair — with the Farmers’ description of events and a general denial from Epstein and Maxwell included,” Ward wrote on her Substack.

“I did my journalistic duty: telling both sides of this ugly story. … But Vanity Fair had other plans,” the scribe wrote.

Ward noted that “shortly after my interview with the Farmer sisters and the follow-up with Maxwell, Epstein paid a visit to Graydon Carter at the Vanity Fair offices, and the Farmers’ allegations were cut from my article.

“Carter has said I didn’t have sufficient reporting. I disagree,” she wrote.

Carter — who ended his 25-year run at the mag in 2017 — confirmed to the New York Times Magazine that Epstein “showed up at the office one day, and he was sitting in our lobby.

Report: Israel Pledges to Inform US on Major Deals With China

The US has been unhappy with Israel's relationship with China

According to a report from Haaretz, Israel has pledged to inform the US of any major deals it reaches with China and would reconsider such deals if Washington raised opposition.

The US has become increasingly concerned over China’s infrastructure projects in Israel, and Biden administration officials have warned Israel against doing business with Beijing. Chinese investments were also a rare point of contention between Israel and the Trump administration.

The Haaretz report said Israeli officials have been discussing how to approach China and are considering whether to stand by the US or stay “under the radar” so Israel doesn’t lose business with China.

While the US is discouraging Israel from doing business with China, it is not offering any alternatives. Israel has inquired about potential infrastructure investments from US companies but has not received any offers.

The irony of Washington pressuring Israel and other allies not to do business with Beijing is the fact that China is the US’s top trading partner. Despite the robust economic relationship, the Pentagon and other US government agencies have declared China as the US’s top adversary.

Haiti PM flees under gunfire as violence continues to grip nation

Ariel Henry was marking Haitian independence day on Saturday when gunfire erupted in northern city of Gonaives.

Gunfire has broken out in the northern Haitian city of Gonaives, forcing the country’s prime minister to cancel a speech to mark the Caribbean nation’s independence day.

Clashes between police and armed groups erupted on Saturday during official celebrations in the city of Gonaives, some 150km (90 miles) in the north of the capital Port-au-Prince, where Haiti’s declaration of independence was signed over 200 years ago.

Local media reported that one person died and two were injured in the gunfire that forced Henry and others to duck and seek shelter as they walked out of a cathedral, where Henry was attending a mass.

“I knew I was taking a risk,” Henry told the AFP news agency in a telephone interview on Monday.

“We cannot let bandits from any background, driven by the lowest financial interests, blackmail the state,” said Henry, who has been de-facto running the country since the July assassination of President Jovenel Moise.

‘Bandits and terrorists’

Reached by The Associated Press news agency, the prime minister’s office said on Monday that “bandits and terrorists” made an attempt on Henry’s life and accused the group of hiding behind walls to attack the convoy and of threatening the bishop by surrounding the church.

“That is intolerable,” the office said, adding that it has issued arrest warrants.

A spokesperson for Haiti’s National Police also told AP on Monday that police had secured the area.

Haiti has been gripped by surging gang violence and kidnappings for ransom, especially in and around the capital, Port-au-Prince, as the country sinks into deeper political instability following the assassination of President Moise in July.

Henry, who took office less than two weeks after Moise was killed, has also struggled with legitimacy, with leading Haitian rights activists rejecting the prime minister’s push to hold elections despite the uncertainty plaguing the nation.

Powerful armed gangs have also called on Henry to step down.

On January 1, the streets of Gonaives were largely empty, as was its cathedral, for the traditional independence day celebrations.

Henry told AFP that so far he has not asked for foreign troops, although although adding that the international community should support the country’s police in training “and possibly equipment.”

“With our men, with the police, we are going to get there, we have to get there,” he said.

In 2020, Moise skipped the trip to Gonaives amid threats of violent protests – and local newspaper Le Nouvelliste said Henry’s attendance at the mass was “an act that no political authority was able to make in the last four years”.

In a statement in Haitian Creole shared on Sunday on Twitter, Henry had said: “Today, our enemies, the enemies of the Haitian people, are the terrorists who do not hesitate to use violence to kill people with all their might, or to kidnap, take away their freedom, to rape them. And do everything for money.”

Henry has pledged to crack down on gangs that authorities have blamed for a spike in kidnappings and for blocking gas distribution terminals in a move that caused a severe fuel shortage in recent months.

The worsening security situation prompted the United States and Canadian governments in November to urge their citizens to leave Haiti.

In addition to the gang violence, the country has struggled to rebuild in the aftermath of a devastating, magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck in August. Dozens of people also were killed in a recent fuel tanker explosion in the northern city of Cap-Haitien.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s conviction on five of six charges of recruiting and grooming teenage girls for sexual encounters with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein is not and should not be the end of the story.

While Maxwell has been held accountable for her actions, the men who engaged in these encounters with underage girls have not, at least not yet. There is speculation Maxwell could strike a bargain with the court for a reduced sentence if she releases the names and possible videos that Epstein shot of some of the men who traveled to his Caribbean island and New York home.

For too long too many men have escaped accountability for their liaisons with prostitutes and underage girls. While some have faced criminal charges, most appear to have escaped full accountability. When police arrest prostitutes, the “johns” too often go free or pay a fine and avoid publicity.

Perhaps one way to discourage this sleazy behavior is to return to a past practice that seemed to work as a deterrent.

Thirty-five years ago, two Trenton, NJ, newspapers decided to print the names not only of prostitutes who had been arrested but also the men who solicited them. The Associated Press ran this story in 1987: “It was bad enough being charged with soliciting a policewoman posing as a prostitute, said Jack [not his real name]. Then a newspaper printed his name and address on the front page.”

The newspapers had suspended the practice in 1977 after a man they named committed suicide. They resumed it a decade later. “Jack” was quoted as saying, “My family had a hard time dealing with it. It put us up to public ridicule. We got anonymous phone calls.”

The fear of public ridicule ought to be enough to give men who would engage in such acts second thoughts. If laws are not enough to act as sufficient deterrents, maybe shame and ridicule will do the job.

One benefit of knowing whether prominent and wealthy men engaged in sex acts with underage girls would be to remove them or keep them from leadership positions.

It has already been revealed that Bill Clinton and Donald Trump were frequent fliers on Epstein’s jet, dubbed the Lolita Express. Flight logs introduced during Maxwell’s trial show Donald Trump flew on the jet between Palm Beach and New York City airports six times, sometimes accompanied by his then-wife, Marla Maples, and infant daughter, Tiffany.

Bill Clinton was a passenger at least 26 times. Fox News obtained records showing Clinton flew without his Secret Service detail for at least five of the flights and that trips between 2001 and 2003 “included extended junkets around the world with Epstein and fellow passengers identified on manifests by their initials or first names, including ‘Tatiana.’ The tricked-out jet earned its Nabokov-inspired nickname because it was reportedly outfitted with a bed where passengers had group sex with young girls.” (Neither Trump nor Clinton has been accused of anything illegal or inappropriate.)

Whether or not Maxwell uses any of the information she might have to bargain for a lighter sentence, I hope details about all the men who visited Epstein’s island and New York home will be made public as a warning to others who might have illegal and certainly immoral fantasies and think they can escape accountability.

The Washington Post quoted “advocates” for sexually abused girls and women as saying the Maxwell conviction is a “symbolic win” for survivors. It should be more than symbolic. Outing all the men who abused these women will make it so.

Ontario begins lockdown: schools, gyms, indoor dining closed again

TORONTO — All schools in Canada’s most populous province will be shut down and move to online learning because of a record number of coronavirus infections fueled by the ultra-contagious omicron variant, Ontario’s premier announced Monday.

Premier Doug Ford also announced the closure of indoor dining. Gyms and cinemas will also close and hospitals have also been told to pause all non-urgent surgeries.

Ontario is locking down again, unlike the U.S. cities and states. Like the U.S., Ontario is seeing record new infections. Ford pointed to projections showing the total number of patients in hospitals would exceed capacity within a few weeks as Omicron is expected to tear through the population.

“We’re bracing for impact,” Ford said

Ford said they are expecting a “tsunami” of cases and noted just one percent of 100,000 new cases a day could overwhelm hospitals. Ontario has a population of more than 14.7 million.

“They had no choice,” said Dr. Andrew Morris, a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Toronto and the medical director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Sinai-University Health Network.

“It was going to be brutal one way or the other. Show me who isn’t facing these realities? Anywhere?” he said.

Morris said the U.S. has much more hospital capacity than Canada. Dr. Chaim Bell, a hospital-based general internist at Sinai Health in Toronto, has noted Canada has one of the lowest number of hospital beds per capita in the industrialized world with hospitals often running at more than 100% capacity and leaving little extra room for extra capacity for surges.

“How does one add hospital capacity? You need add physicians and nurses, etc. They don’t just appear,” Morris said.

The reopening of schools has been delayed until at least Jan. 17. Just last week, the government announced schools would open on Wednesday.

Retail stores will be limited to 50% capacity in Ontario and indoor social gatherings will be capped at five people.

The new measures will begin Wednesday.

Parents of Marine Killed in Kabul Attack Unleash on Biden Admin, Demand Milley Resignation

Parents of fallen United States Marine Kareem Nikoui slammed the Biden administration on Monday for its chaotic handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Nikoui was one of the 13 American military personnel killed in a deadly Aug 26, 2021, suicide bombing carried out by the Afghanistan wing of the Islamic State terror group, ISIS – Khorasan Province.

The suicide attack happened during the last week of Biden’s botched exit from the Central Asian nation.

“I’d like to see General Milley resign,” Kareem’s father Steve Nikoui told Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy in the Monday episode of “Fox and Friends.”

“He should be held responsible for this. He’s the [chairman of the] Joint Chiefs of Staff.”

“They let the Taliban dictate the evacuation,” Nikoui further said. “I don’t feel any of them have been held accountable. And the president, he hasn’t taken any accountability on it either.”

The deceased Marine’s father said that when he questioned Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley during an interaction in Delaware on why the withdrawal was not planned any better, Milley went on the defensive. The general responded in a “hostile” manner, saying the botched withdrawal had been “planned for months,” Nikoui recounted.

Prior to the suicide bombing, U.S. intelligence was well aware of a potential attack on Kabul airport by the radical Sunni Islamist militant group.

US orders another 10 million courses of Pfizer COVID-19 treatment

The United States is purchasing an additional 10 million courses of Pfizer's COVID-19 treatment Paxlovid, the company said Tuesday, bringing the total U.S. order to 20 million.

The move comes as the Biden administration seeks to ramp up the treatments available as another tool to battle the virus.

Pfizer also said Tuesday that the delivery of the first 10 million courses has been accelerated to June, with the following 10 million coming by September.

Experts have been pushing the White House to do more to ramp up production of the treatment given that it can play a major role in defanging the virus, but it is expected to be in shortage in the near term.

The White House previously said that just 265,000 courses of the treatment would be available in January, amid a major surge of COVID-19.

Officials have pointed to a complex manufacturing process as posing hurdles to getting doses sooner.

"It’s still way too small and too late to meet the anticipated needs," Eric Topol, professor of molecular medicine at Scripps Research, wrote in an email after the announcement of the new order.

President Biden is set to give remarks on the omicron variant and the latest in the response to the surge later Tuesday afternoon.

Pfizer did not give a price for the latest order of its treatment. The U.S. paid $5.295 billion for the original 10 million courses.

Trials showed that the pill is highly effective, reducing the risk of hospitalization or death by 89 percent in high-risk patients. It is intended to be taken within five days of the onset of symptoms.

Children by surrogacy to be allowed for same-sex couples, single men from next week

Health Minister Horowitz stresses transgender people will be included in regulation change in wake of last year’s High Court ruling; rights groups welcome ‘historic day’

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz announced Tuesday that starting next week, same-sex couples, single men and transgender people will be able parent children through surrogacy, an option that was previously banned for them in Israel.

The new rules, which come into effect January 11, were laid down in a directive formed by the Health Ministry director-general in line with a High Court of Justice ruling on the matter. They were presented in a press briefing by the minister.

They bring to an end a legal battle that has gone on for more than 11 years, since gay couple Etai Pinkas Arad and Yoav Arad Pinkas filed a petition on the matter with Israel’s top court in 2010.

Horowitz said the move will enable “future fathers, gay couples and essentially every person in Israel equal access to surrogacy in Israel.”

“Today we put an end to injustice and discrimination. Everyone has the right to parenthood,” he said. He stressed that transgender people were also included in the relaxed rules.

How a Liberal Foundation Bankrolled Abortion Pills in the Name of Population Control

Roughly a decade before his death in 1996, tech titan David Packard issued a controversial directive to his children. Skyrocketing birth rates, the Hewlett-Packard cofounder wrote, could one day cause "utter chaos for humanity." As a result, Packard asserted, his multibillion-dollar foundation must hold one priority above all others: population control.

Packard—a Republican who served as deputy secretary of defense under President Richard Nixon—did not see eye to eye politically with his three daughters, one of whom succeeded him as chair of his foundation following his death. His liberal offspring took the billionaire's desire to curb population growth as a jumping off point. While the foundation is unbound legally to honor Packard's policy wishes, they found a way to embrace his views and pursue their own liberal activism—through expanded abortion access, a mission toward which they devoted nearly $350 million in the last five years alone, according to a review of the foundation's financial disclosures.

Those expenditures have allowed Packard's successors to deliver significant victories in furthering the late billionaire's anti-natalist agenda. Take, for example, the Food and Drug Administration's December decision to ease the process for getting a chemical abortion pill. The Packard Foundation played a central role in the deregulation fight, funneling millions to liberal advocacy groups that spearheaded the legal and political push to remove the FDA's abortion pill barriers. The foundation meanwhile invested millions of dollars into GenBioPro, the only company that makes a generic form of the abortion drug.

In 2017, the Packard Foundation gave $1,000,000 to the Reproductive Freedom Project, a division of the American Civil Liberties Union that works to "ensure that all in our society have access to" abortion. That year, Reproductive Freedom Project attorneys sued the FDA to challenge its abortion pill restrictions, which required patients to receive abortion pills in person from specialty clinics.

Months later, in 2018, the foundation invested $500,000 in GenBioPro. The Nevada-based private company makes the generic form of mifepristone, an oral drug used to cause an abortion. It invested an additional $1.5 million in GenBioPro in 2019, the same year the company's generic abortion pill received FDA approval and hit the market.

At the same time, the foundation spent millions of dollars on political campaigns promoting increased access to abortion pills. From 2017 to 2021, it awarded liberal dark money network New Venture Fund more than $3.7 million in "reproductive health" grants. The Packard Foundation specifically earmarked $1 million of the contribution to All Above All, a New Venture Fund project that has advocated abortion pill deregulation. New Venture Fund also manages Abortion on Our Own Terms, another spinoff group that is dedicated to expanding abortion pill access and envisions a future where abortion pills are available over the counter nationwide.

The Packard Foundation's vast abortion pill advocacy network began paying dividends more recently, thanks in part to both the coronavirus pandemic and President Joe Biden's election.

Democrats Draft Legislation to Erect Permanent ‘Insurrection Memorial’.

House Democrats introduced a bill to erect a permanent “Attack On The Capitol” exhibit on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.

Co-sponsored by nearly 20 Democrats, the bill, dubbed the Capitol Remembrance Act, would “direct the Architect of the Capitol to design and install in the United States Capitol an exhibit that depicts the attack on the Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.”

The bill specifies that the project must be installed in a “prominent location” and retain a “permanent” status. Property “damaged during the attack,” photographs, and a plaque honoring the “sacrifice of heroes, including United States Capitol Police Officers Brian Sicknick” are among the exhibit requirements. Officer Sicknick, however, died of natural causes according to D.C.’s Chief Medical Examiner.

“The Architect may include artwork created to depict the attack on the Capitol,” the bill adds.

The legislation adds to the Democratic party’s continued exploitation of the events on January 6th, epitomized by President Biden, who recently referred to the event as “worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War” and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who professed she thought she “was going to die” when Trump supporters entered the U.S. Capitol despite the fact the congresswoman was in an entirely different building at the time of the attack.

Greek Journalist Union Condemns Prosecution of Investigative Reporter

A Greek journalist union condemned the court summoning of a reporter who claims to be targeted by authorities for exposing officials believed to have received bribes from the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis and for writing about wealthy people suspected of evading taxes.

“ESIEA expresses its support for Gianna Papadakou and stresses that reporting and investigative journalism, which are ingredients of free press protected by the Constitution, cannot be prosecuted,” the Journalist Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA) said in a statement.

Papadakou told OCCRP on Monday that she is set to appear in front of magistrates on January 11 to answer questions about her reporting about the Novartis bribery case as well as about claims of a Greek-Israeli businessman that she and others had tried to extort money from him.

“I wrote about Novartis and I exposed it in my TV shows,” she said.

While Novartis agreed in 2020 to pay US$347 million as part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commision over violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, in which it acknowledged making illegal payments to Greek healthcare providers and officials, Greece itself did little to hold the Swiss pharmaceutical company and the recipients of the bribes to account.

Instead, prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki who was investigating Novartis and Greek top politicians, including two former prime ministers, had the case removed from her.

To add insult to injury, Touloupaki was accused of abuse of power in another case and had a criminal case opened against her. The same Greek-Israeli businessman that accused Papadakou, accused her for extortion as well.

Touloupaki told OCCRP at the time that ever since she started probing the Novartis bribery case, she has been politically persecuted as a result. “They managed to turn the auditors into defendants in order to stop any judicial investigation,” she told OCCRP in 2020.

Papadakou said the real reason for the accusations against her is her reporting about people suspected of hiding their wealth from tax authorities.

“They are targeting me because I was reporting about people on the Lagarde-List and because I was a witness in the parliamentary inquiry,” she said, referring to a list of thousands of people, including about 2,000 wealthy Greeks, who had secret bank accounts in the Geneva branch of HSBC.
