Leaf here. You need a license to own guns and have to have a background check. I have alot of friends that own a variety of guns. Awhile back there was a bs gun registry that was so dumb eventually it got thrown out (except Quebec) because people were registering the most insane things as guns to troll legislators lol. While laws are a little more cumbersome than US to get a gun it's not that hard and many people own especially in rural canada.
