Downing Street Ordered Iraq War Memo to be BURNED, Blair Defense Sec Claims
Sir Tony Blair’s Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon alleges in his new memoir he was ordered by the former British PM’s Chief of Staff to burn a memo claiming the Iraq War could be illegal.
Hoon insists that after reading the memo by then-Attorney General Peter Goldsmith, “under conditions of considerable secrecy” he was instructed “in no uncertain terms that he should ‘burn it’”.
Blair - who is facing over 750k signatures to strip him of a recently-awarded knighthood - insisted in 2015 the claims were “nonsense”, but is yet to comment on the revelations.
