Those docs could be trade secrets, employee information, just about anything the public shouldn't have access to. Public means public. There is also sealed and private records - they have the right to refuse public access to them. The news article is somewhat ambiguous on their wording, but i'm not surprised since they are trying to spin a narrative. This will all play out in court and per usual, and the MSM doesn't get to play.
