Kazakh police release footage of violent clashes with protesters
Kazakhstan police have released footage of protesters clashing with security forces during demonstrations about the increased price of fuel.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said constitutional order had mostly been restored, a day after Russia sent troops to put down a countrywide uprising.
The interior ministry said 26 "armed criminals" had been "liquidated" and more than 3,000 detained, while 18 police and national guard servicemembers had been killed since the start of the protests.
However, fresh gunshots could be heard in the morning near the city's central square, where troops and protesters had battled through much of the previous day.
