Big picture thinking, it seems a safe bet that ever since the balkan countries split off, someone has been in there sewing fuckery for a future time such as this. It has been NATO's goal to get nukes on Russia's doorstep since day 1, and it has been Russia's goal to become a player in world energy markets.
