Oh, and they've been lying about Ty Cobb (The Georgia Peach) for eternity. For years, this Pete Rose fan heard nothing but how Cobb was the most horrible human ever, but a great player. Author Charles Leerhsen (Ty Cobb, A Terrible Beauty) did the research and found the truths including how Cobb supported the integration of blacks in baseball, for starters, and never fought with a black; Didn't "spike" infielders when on basepaths… (picture Squints going on about Mr. Mertle & Hercules "The Beast" in The Sandlot.)
Al Stump, who had first written Ty Cobb’s autobiography, printed all lies and Cobb had died before being able to see and protest it. Everything in Stump’s work was via “anonymous sources”. Stump continued to make $$$ spreading unfounded lies regarding Cobb, and Commie Pedowood followed suit.
Thinking about it tonight, would bet that that sportswriter character in "The Natural" (1984) was modeled after Stump (Pete Rose was closing in on Cobb's hit record of 4191 - since adjusted to 4189, which he'd break the next September facing Eric Show.)
