Thisanon is writing from firsthand experience. It was my experience, that challenging an unlawful order, was the most difficult and dangerous thing i ever did in the U.S. Army. Completely thankless and unrewarding in terms of common “service” and “rewards”. However, thirty years later i would still do it again without regret.
It is perfectly appropriate and decent to encourage young soldiers to read the document they swore and Oath to… and at least keep that in mind when interacting with “Superiors”. If someone just wants the paycheck, medals and accolades for just “following orders”… count me out.
