Western Australia to end mask mandate as state reports no new local COVID cases
West Australians will soon be able to ditch the mask in most locations as restrictions ease beyond Friday, amid zero new local COVID infections overnight.
Acting Premier Roger Cook announced the decision on Friday, telling reporters from 6pm mask wearing will no longer be required for indoor venues or other outdoor major events where it was mandated.
Mr Cook said masks would only be required in vulnerable settings, including hospitals and aged care along with public transport and rideshare services.
“At present we are on top of situation and can have confidence in our next step,” he said.
WA recorded six new infections overnight related to travel, three of which were returned interstate travellers and three international arrivals.
