The summer in Mongolia
Is glorious!
In North America you have wolves, coyotes and dogs.
They all hybridize
Wolf-coyote hybrids
Coyote-dog hybrids
And Wolf-dog hybrids
The ranges of these animals overlap sporadically
Dogs live where humans do
Wolves live in wild forests and mountains
Coyotes live in Western plains and scrub.
But when they hybridize, the hybrids carry characteristics of both
And move into both habitats
Which causes them to migrate, over time
Into much larger territories.
Now there are animals that are hybrids of all three species
And they are better than any of their ancestors
They do not fear man
They can hide in the forests
Hunt in packs
And move through the open ground with ease
Getting by with less water than a wolf or a dog
And the general trend
Is for the coydogwolves to spread east
And to dominate over their wild ancestors
They are already as far east as the Great Lakes
Evolution at work
Some believe there are more evolutionary effects
From hybridization
Than from simple selection
There is no DUMB there
That is the last place you would put one
It is well known that Kilauea is expanding in that direction
Both by lava flow above ground
And by swelling and movement of the ground itself
This is why nobody on that island is panicking
They all know that the volcano is slowly pushing the main island
Away from the volcanic upwelling from deep below
