Beijing’s courtship of Israel has been canny and effective

Americans increasingly see China as an adversary, but Israelis don’t. When the Pew Research Center carried out a survey on global attitudes in 2019, two-thirds of Israelis said their view of China was “favorable,” and just a quarter said the opposite.

This was close to a mirror image of the American public, where it was 60% unfavorable and just 26% positive.

Israelis have many problems, and China has never been one of them.

Israel and China go way back; how far back depends on what you mean by “Israel” and “China.”

And yet the relationship survived, and over time the flow of shekels and renminbi grew from a Jordan River trickle to a Yangtze torrent. For much of the last decade Chinese tech investments were the talk of the local venture capital scene. Barely a week went by without Chinese executives in Tel Aviv on the “startup nation” tour, and if in 2011 there were only five China-Israel tech deals, worth a total of $31 million, by 2018 there were 72, worth $4.8 billion.

Trade between the two countries, worth barely $1 billion in 2001, is now 10 times that, mostly in the form of Chinese exports to Israel.

Let’s take the dairy giant Tnuva. Any internal Israeli decision—about, say, fat content in processed cheese—now impacts a state-linked Chinese company. That decision is thus tied to our relationship with China, which includes tunnels and hydroelectric plants and ports, and might result in the phone ringing in the office of Israel’s foreign minister. Nihao!

How many Israelis in the US government?

Do they represent, “American” views?

let's talk about the Clinton Foundation. That continues to dog her in terms of whether or not there was impropriety between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department.

the issue with the Clinton Foundation is that there's nothing criminally wrong right now but it just feeds a perception that there are so many people hundreds of people, thousands of people to whom the Clintons owe favors when she gets into the White House.

There's a sense that people gave money to this foundation in order to ingratiate themselves with the former president and with the current Secretary of State and future president. And so it just feeds the sense of corruption around the Clintons that they really are having a hard time addressing directly.

does the president of Turkey still think the U.S. played a role in the recent attempt to overthrow him?

We have very clear evidences that coup d'etat attempt on 15th of July has strong links with Gulen, who is here in Poconos, Pennsylvania, and a group of people in the military service. They intended to make a military coup d'etat but because of the courage of people, people showed their resistance against the coup and people managed to save the Turkish democracy.

New Ties Emerge Between Clinton And Mysterious Islamic Cleric

Connections between Clinton and acolytes of the imam, Fethullah Gulen, could muddle the complex relationship between the U.S. and Turkey

Erdoğan, who was once allied with Gulen, has even personally asked President Obama to extradite the 74-year-old guru, who has lived in self-exile in Pennsylvania’s Pocono mountains since 1999.

It shows that a Gulen-aligned group called the Alliance for Shared Values hired the Clinton-connected Podesta Group to lobby Congress on its behalf.
