Lucky Biden armed them before leaving Afghanistan - conspiracy

China Offers Kazakhstan Assistance As President Says Afghan Militants Infiltrated Country

On Tuesday the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a formal offer to its northwest neighbor Kazakhstan that it stands ready to give hasty assistance should it be requested, after the largest city of Almaty has been pacified by authorities after a week of severe unrest triggered by a fuel price hike, but which quickly targeted the rule of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors and permanent strategic partners. China maintains close cooperation with Kazakhstan and will provide assistance in accordance with the requests of the Kazakh party and within its capabilities," the ministry stated, as cited in Russian media.

"China adheres to a constructive approach regarding the measures facilitating pacification, economic development and improving the living standards of Kazakhstan's citizens," the ministry added.

While it's as yet unclear precisely what kind of assistance China is offering, it would possibly come in the form of peacekeeping troops such as the 3,000 Russian troops on the ground as of early this week, or more likely in as aid towards reconstruction efforts - given the devastation in many city centers after a week of riots in which government buildings were torched. Police advisory assistance could also be an option.

Last week as Kazakhstan was thrust into the international media spotlight, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed support for embattled President Tokayev, crucially at a moment his security forces were given "shoot to kill without warning orders" against any armed threat in the streets.

According to the latest from the Kazakh Interior Ministry, at least 17 police and national guard have been killed, while nearly 10,000 arrests have been made. At least 168 people have also died nationwide amid the chaos and rioting.

On Monday Tokayev proclaimed that "an attempted coup d’etat" had been put down by the state. He described that foreign terror elements had entered the country to fuel the violence, even blaming militants from Afghanistan at one point.

According to the AFP, "Speaking with European Council President Charles Michel later Monday, Tokayev said militants from Central Asia, Afghanistan and the Middle East were behind the unrest."

Interestingly, the allegation of Afghan militants in the country comes after Russia and China warned the West that the US-NATO longtime war and occupation in Afghanistan could further destabilization the central Asian region following US forces' chaotic retreat from the country last August. Tens of thousands of Afghans are believed to have poured into neighboring countries amid chaos, including militants in some cases.

LA Times Columnist Says Mocking Anti-Vaxxers’ Deaths Is “Necessary”

The Los Angeles Times published an article by columnist Michael Hiltzik which says mocking the deaths of anti-vaxxers is “necessary”.

Yes, really.

As Chris Menahan notes, the URL of the original article suggests the first headline was even worse and that it was subsequently changed by an editor.

The first incarnation was called ‘Why Shouldn’t We Dance On The Graves of Anti-Vaxxers?’

Lovely.

The headline was changed to ‘Mocking anti-vaxxers’ deaths is ghoulish, yes — but necessary’.

Its final incarnation is now published as ‘Mocking anti-vaxxers’ COVID deaths is ghoulish, yes — but may be necessary’.

The constant watering down of the headline clearly suggests the newspaper was trying to minimize the inevitable backlash that would ensue.

The bulk of the piece focuses on mocking the death of conservative activist Kelly Ernby, who campaigned against mandatory COVID vaccines for children as a condition of going to school, but subsequently died from “COVID complications.”

“Kelly Ernby’s friends and family ask us to remember her for her career as a public servant and as a devoted spouse and mother. But let’s not mince words: Her campaigns against public health measures negated whatever good she may have done in her other endeavors,” writes Hiltzik.

“The policies Ernby advocated may well have contributed to the spread of COVID and to the damaging of the public health infrastructure in her own community. Even before this pandemic, she spoke out for measures that would threaten California schoolchildren with exposure to deadly childhood diseases. There were no scientific or medical grounds for her opposition to mandates; there was only political ideology.”

The columnist goes on to assert that the media should shine a spotlight on the deaths of people who ask questions about COVID vaccines and other lockdown measures, as if they don’t relentlessly do that anyway.

“But mockery is not necessarily the wrong reaction to those who publicly mocked anti-COVID measures and encouraged others to follow suit, before they perished of the disease the dangers of which they belittled,” he adds.

Imagine if people who campaigned against mandatory vaccinations mocked the deaths of people who died from vaccine side-effects?

They’d be treated as monsters by the media, as should Michael Hiltzik for his disgusting diatribe.

Rolls-Royce boss says COVID deaths were good for business

That’s according to Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Müller-Otvös, who said the luxury automaker sold more cars last year than it did during any other year in its 117-year history.

Müller-Otvös told the Financial Times he believes Rolls-Royce rolled to its record because the pandemic got people to realize that “life can be short.”

“Quite a lot of people witnessed people in their community dying from COVID, that makes them think life can be short, and you’d better live now than postpone it to a later date,” he said.

“That also has helped [Rolls-Royce sales] quite massively.”

According to the FT, the British luxury automaker sold 5,586 units last year — a 49% increase of overall sales from 2020.

For car companies that cater to the mass consumer, that number would be paltry. But Rolls-Royce caters to a clientele that can shell out $455,000 for a Phantom.

Müller-Otvös said other company data also supports his theory. The average age of customers dropped to 43 last year. It was as high as 53 just a few years ago.

The drop in average age means that “for every 60-year-old, you need a client who is 20,” the CEO said.

Müller-Otvös said sales were brisk in China, the Western Hemisphere, Europe and the Middle East. The company also performed well in South Korea and Russia, he said.

Rolls-Royce also wasn’t impacted by the shortage in chips that hampered other automobile manufacturers.

Other luxury carmakers also flourished during the pandemic. Bentley sold a record 14,659 cars and SUVs last year — a 31% increase from the year before. Lamborghini sold 2,472 cars in the United States last year — an 11% jump from 2020.

“This year is already higher than the best year ever,” Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in December.

Bentley and Lamborghini are both owned by Volkswagen.

Russian Troops to Start Withdrawing From Kazakhstan in 2 Days, Says Kazakh President

Troops from a Russia-aligned group who flew to Kazakhstan last week following serious unrest in the Central Asian nation will start withdrawing in two days after completing its mission, the president announced on Tuesday.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev requested help from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance of six former Soviet states, for international support on Jan. 6 after nationwide protests erupted into violence.

“The primary mission of the CSTO peacekeeping forces has been successfully completed,” Tokayev said during a session broadcast live on state television.

“The gradual withdrawal of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent will commence in two days,” the president went on to say. “The process of withdrawing the contingent will take no longer than 10 days.”

The mostly Russian troops were deployed to Kazakhstan as the country faced the worst public unrest since the former Soviet nation gained independence around three decades ago.

Tokayev said in his request for aid that military assistance was necessary to help overcome a “terrorist threat.” Thus far, Kazakh police have detained more than 9,000 people in the unrest that has seen 164 people officially killed, the country’s interior ministry reported.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media sites such as Twitter, the actual death toll is much higher, as government forces implemented Tokayev’s order to “shoot to kill, without warning.”

Nationwide protests, which started on Jan. 2 in the city of Zhanaozen in Kazakhstan’s Mangistau region, began in response to an increase in the price cap for propane gas to 120 tenge (27 cents), from 2021’s price of 60 tenge (14 cents).

On Tuesday, Tokayev appointed a new prime minister, Alikhan Smailov, with a view to “developing a government framework for action for 2022 within three weeks.”

Kazakhstan’s government resigned last week in what was seen as one of several concessions aimed at mollifying the protesters, along with a 180-day cap on fuel prices and the ouster of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the country’s former longtime leader, from his influential post as head of the National Security Council.

Nazarbayev stepped down as president in March 2019 after thirty years as the leader but has continued to maintain control over the ruling party Nur Otan until Dec. 2, 2021.

Illegal Migrant With Criminal Record Discovered at Swedish Prime Minister’s House… Working as Cleaner

An illegal migrant with a criminal record and a deportation order against her name was taken into custody at the home of Sweden’s new Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, a burglar alarm inadvertently tripped during cleaning automatically summoning police to the address.

The discovery of the illegal migrant took place shortly before Christmas on December 21st but has only now come to light in Swedish media. According to now-emerging reports, cleaners tripped a burglar alarm at Prime Minister Andersson’s villa in Nacka, Stockholm by mistake while working.

After police arrived they detained the two cleaners working at the home and found that one of them, a woman, was not only in the country illegally without a valid residency permit, had been rejected for residency and given a deportation order, but also had a criminal record, Swedish newspaper Expressen reports.

Tommy Kalenius, station commander at the police in Nacka described the incident after police were alerted to the alarm saying, “It came in as an ongoing burglary there. Then we checked a person and then it has turned out that the person has a rejection decision. [She was] handed over to the Swedish Migration Agency for further processing.”

The woman is said to be a 25-year-old Nicaraguan national who was rejected for residency in the Autumn of 2020 but has been working illegally ever since, and has been wanted by police since the Autumn of 2021.

She had previously been convicted of theft in 2020 and given a suspended sentence by a court in Stockholm.

Andersson later commented on the matter through her press secretary, telling Expressen, “I have ended all contacts with the cleaning company,” and added, “I now assume that the responsible authorities get to the bottom of this and clarify what has happened. I never comment on my security situation.”

She said in further comments that: “Even those of us who want to do the right thing can fall foul of dodgy operators”.

The CEO of the cleaning company also spoke to Expressen, stating that he sometimes hires staff from different companies but refused to identify which companies he uses. He also insisted, it is reported, that the illegal migrant wasn’t actually supposed to be inside the Prime Minister’s family home and may have been discovered sitting in a car outside the property.

The incident comes after Andersson was confirmed as Sweden’s first female Prime Minister following the resignation of her predecessor Stefan Lofven in November.

Andersson resigned her position just hours after being selected as Prime Minister after facing and losing a major budget vote the same day. She was later re-elected Prime Minister to form a single-party minority government, one of the weakest governments in Sweden in decades.

Ironically, British state broadcaster the BBC notes, Andersson has made tackling the illegal economy a major ambition of her government.

Multiple Child Sex Offenders, Criminal Aliens Arrested After Crossing SW Border

Border Patrol agents in the southwest continue to arrest large numbers of previously deported criminal aliens. Many committed sex offenses against minors.

Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Modlin tweeted a photo of a Mexican national arrested by Douglas Station agents this week. During a biometric background investigation agents identified the migrant as victor Castaneda-Torres. The Mexican national received a conviction from a California court for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

In South Texas, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested four deported sex offenders — three with convictions for sex crimes against children.

Rio Grande City Station agents arrested Edgar Antonio Barajas-Granados, a Mexican national, after he illegally re-entered the United States on January 7 near Roma, Texas. A background check revealed that a Texas court in Corpus Christi for sexual assault of a child. The conviction followed his arrest on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. The court sentenced the 20-year-old Mexican national to 300 hours of community service and ten years of probation.

Officials report the man has a lengthy criminal record including being deported by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers.

Two days later, Brownsville Station agents arrested a Guatemalan migrant with a conviction by a California court in 2012 for sex with a minor under the age of 16 while being over 21 years old. The court sentenced the 35-year-old migrant in 2013 and sentenced him to 480 days in jail and eight months of probation. He was subsequently deported.

McAllen Station agents conducted criminal background checks on a group of nine migrants arrested on January 8 near Mission, Texas. The agents identified one of the men as a 36-year-old Mexican national with a conviction in 2016 by a Minnesota court for criminal sexual conduct with a victim between the ages of 13 and 15, officials reported. The court sentenced the Mexican man to 36 months confinement. ERO officers subsequently deported the migrants following the completion of his sentence.

Weslaco Station agents arrested a group of eight migrants near Progreso, Texas, on January 9. While processing the group, agents found that one of the men, a Mexican national, received a conviction from a Utah court for morals-decency crimes and gross lewdness. The conviction followed his arrest for forcible sexual abuse. The court sentenced the man to one year in prison.

Undersea cable connecting Norway and Arctic satellite station is mysteriously damaged

An undersea fiberoptic cable which provides vital internet connection and communications links between mainland Norway and the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean has mysteriously been put out of action.

The outage on the subsea communications cable, which is the northern most cable of its kind in the world, occurred on January 7 but was only revealed to the public yesterday by Space Norway, who owns and maintains the technology.

The disruption, which occurred on one of two fiberoptic cables, could prove disastrous as it means there is now only one connection between the mainland and Svalbard with no backup.

The cables provide essential power for Space Norway to run the Svalbard Satellite Station (SvalSat), and also enable broadband internet connection on the islands.

Should the second cable fail before repairs are made, Svalbard's citizens and SvalSat will be effectively cut off from Norway.

It comes as Britain's newly appointed chief of the defence staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, warned that Russia may look to cripple such vital undersea communications wires supporting the UK.

In an interview at the weekend, Radakin said there had been 'a phenomenal increase' in Russian submarine activity over the past 20 years, adding: 'Russia has grown the capability to put at threat those undersea cables and potentially exploit them.'

The press release from Space Norway said the power outage was first detected at 4:10 am local time on Friday morning, and that the cable has been out of order since.

The fault in the cable, which runs from Longyearbyen in Svalbard to Andoeya on Norway's north coast, was detected between 80 - 140 miles from Longyearbyen at a point where the cable runs from less than 0.2 miles deep to over 1.3 miles deep under the surface between the Greenland, Norwegian and Barents seas.

Space Norway did not provide details of the outage, the extent of the damage or how it was caused, but confirmed that an cable-laying vessel will need to be dispatched to administer repairs.

The company stressed that communication between Svalbard and the mainland was still operational, but admitted that there is no only one cable functioning with no redundancy system should it fail.

The SvalSat site is located atop a mountainous ridge on Svalbard and consists of more than 100 satellite antennas vital for polar orbiting satellites.

The site represents one of only two ground stations from which data can be downloaded from these types of satellites on each of the Earth's rotations, making it a valuable asset.

However, Russian authorities have previously suggested the SvalSat site may also be used to download data from military satellites as well as commercial ones, despite Svalbard being located in a designated demilitarised zone - accusations which have fuelled suspicions that Russian submarines may be responsible for the outages, though there is no evidence of this as yet.

Vaccinated people are dying from autoimmune attacks against their own organs

Two reputable scientists from Germany, Sucharit Bhakdi, M.D. and Arne Burkhardt, M.D., published a bombshell paper entitled, “On COVID vaccines: why they cannot work, and irrefutable evidence of their causative role in deaths after vaccination.” The findings were presented on December 10th at an interdisciplinary symposium where researchers discussed the safety and efficacy of the new vaccines.

The study took a closer look at fifteen vaccinated patients (ages ranging from 28-95) who died within seven days up to six months after receiving an experimental covid vaccine. The vaccines did not save their lives. In fact, fourteen of the deceased vaccinated patients suffered from extensive autoimmune damage in various vital organs. After taking the spike protein mRNA, their antibodies and T-lymphocytes had turned against them, attacking their vital organs.

Spike protein mRNA causes autoimmune attacks in vital organs

Because coroners are not properly trained to link vaccines to various causes of death, most of the fatalities were initially determined to be caused by “arrhythmogenic heart failure.” Most of the patients (eleven) were never hospitalized. They either died in their home, on the street, at work, in their car, or in a home-care facility. Four of the patients were treated in the ICU for more than two days. Therefore, the paper concluded that medical interventions were “unlikely to have significantly influenced the post-mortem findings.”

After the vaccine mRNA encodes spike proteins in the cells, that genetic information is translated in the ribosomes to mass produce a foreign, toxin protein. By subverting the natural protein synthesis of the cell, the vaccine technology reprograms the immune system to fight foreign proteins that were forcibly created by the body’s own cells. The immune responsive cells may see the body’s healthy cells, tissues and organs as a threat. If healthy cells are suddenly creating foreign spike proteins, immune responsive cells may see the healthy cells as a threat to the body as a whole. This could trigger an out-of-control autoimmune reaction, a process of self-destruction.

Covid vaccines train IgG antibodies and T-lymphocytes to target the body’s own organs

Any cell that is penetrated and reprogrammed by spike protein mRNA could ultimately come under attack by the body’s own IgG antibodies and cytotoxic T-lymphocytes. After all, the T-lymphocytes are intended to protect the body against cancerous cells and cells that are infected by pathogens. This immune process can take place in any organ.

In 14 out of 15 of the autopsies, the immune system attacked the individual’s heart. In 13 cases, the immune system attacked the individual’s lungs. The liver, brain, salivary glands and thyroid gland were all attacked in two cases each. Every deceased person showed similar inflammatory pathological evidence in their tissues, especially with the death of small blood vessels. The most important evidence was a high concentration of killer T-lymphocytes in blood vessels and the tissues surrounding them.

“Your heart muscle, and your liver and your lungs begin to produce these damn [spike] proteins, [and then] your killer lymphocytes go there … and destroy your heart, your lungs, your liver,” Dr. Bhakdi warned. The evidence of the “immunological self-attack is without precedent,” the doctors wrote. “Because vaccination was the single common denominator between all cases, there can be no doubt that it was the trigger of self-destruction in these deceased individuals.” They warn that more people will suffer similar adverse events as additional booster shots are approved.

The vaccines also penetrate the lymph nodes, teaching these cells to produce spike proteins instead of white blood cells. This may cause the T-lymphocytes to attack one of tdehe body’s critical immune defenses. People who have been vaccinated will be more susceptible to various infections of viral and bacterial origin because one facet of their immune system is being trained to damage other facets of the immune system. This evidence has led one doctor, Dr. Peter McCullough, to declare covid vaccines the “most dangerous biological medicinal product rollout in human history.” Are the covid vaccines part of a depopulation agenda?

Air Force, Space Force now allows gender pronouns in official documents, emails

The Department of the Air Force updated its guidelines on written documents last month, allowing Air Force Airmen and Space Force Guardians to include their personal gender pronouns in email signature blocks, memoranda, letters and papers.

The Air Force announced the updated guidance in a Dec. 20 press release. The new guidelines on personal pronouns will also be included in the Department of the Air Force writing guide, “The Tongue and Quill.”

“An inclusive force is a mission-ready force, and I’m thankful to the LGBTQ Initiatives Team for helping us realize this opportunity to be a more inclusive force,” Under Secretary of the Air Force Gina Ortiz Jones said upon announcing the change.

The Air Force’s LGBTQ Initiatives Team (LIT) advocated for the inclusion of pronouns, which it said would promote “a more inclusive culture” within the service branches.

LIT is a part of the Department of the Air Force Barrier Analysis Working Group (DAFBAWG). LIT formally started in April of last year.

“The change request was driven by awareness of a restrictive policy that was being used against transgender Airmen and Guardians who were authentically representing themselves,” Lt. Col. Bree Fram, a LIT Transgender Policy Team co-lead said of the policy change. “It was also important for many individuals often confused as being a different gender in their communications.”

Master Sgt. Jamie Hash, the other LIT Transgender Policy Team co-lead, also said giving explicit permission to use pronouns is a practice that is now common in the civilian world. Hash said the new policy moves the Department of the Air Force further towards “explicitly acknowledging the existence and dignity of non-binary military members and civilians.” She also said the policy would be helpful for people with non-Anglo/Western or gender-neutral names.

Hash said the effort to allow pronouns in email signatures and other official documents began after she made the request at her installation’s Diversity and Inclusion committee.

High Court leans toward closing case of IDF killing 4 Palestinian minors on Gaza beach

The High Court hinted it would support the IDF closing the case regarding their mistaken killing of four innocent Palestinian minors on Gaza beach during the 2014 Gaza War.

The High Court of Justice on Monday strongly hinted it would support the IDF and Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit’s decision to close a probe into the IDF’s mistaken killing of four innocent Palestinian minors on a Gaza beach during Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

The incident occurred in view of a throng of journalists who copiously recorded the event and whose photos went viral.

Essentially, the IDF closed the case, saying reasonable but faulty intelligence that the area on the beach where the minors were was a headquarters for Hamas naval commandos had led to mistaken approval to fire on them from the air.

The key to the decision was the IDF viewed the order as a reasonable mistake in the fog of war and not a criminal act.

During Monday’s hearing, much of the debate revolved around how far the laws of war require the IDF or any other military to go to identify whether specific individuals, whose identity is unclear, are combatants or civilians.

Education Secretary Cardona solicited NSBA letter comparing protesting parents to domestic terrorists: email

NSBA official said controversial letter followed 'a request by Secretary Cardona'

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona solicited the much-criticized letter from the National School Boards Association that compared protesting parents to domestic terrorists, according to an email exchange reviewed by Fox News.

The email exchange indicates Cardona was more involved with the letter's creation than previously known.

President Biden's Department of Justice relied on the NSBA letter, which suggested using the Patriot Act against parents, in creating its own memo directing the FBI to mobilize in support of local education officials.

In the Oct. 5 email, NSBA Secretary-Treasurer Kristi Swett recounted that NSBA interim CEO Chip Slaven "told the officers he was writing a letter to provide information to the White House, from a request by Secretary Cardona."

Previous emails had revealed that the NSBA was in contact with the White House and Justice Department in the weeks before it publicly sent the letter.

Prominent Chinese Communist Party Members Serve on Board of Yale Beijing Center

Ivy League outpost hosts pro-Beijing events, funded by Chinese business leaders

Two prominent members of the Chinese Communist Party serve on the board of Yale University's academic center in Beijing, which hosts a series of events that defend Chinese government initiatives.

Fu Chengyu and Zhou Wenzhong, who have served on the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, sit on Yale Center Beijing's advisory board alongside Chinese business leaders, a former U.S. trade representative, and a former U.S. ambassador to China. The Consultative Conference is a major hub of China's united front system, which carries out foreign influence operations for the Chinese Communist Party. Fu formerly served as president of Sinopec, the Chinese state-owned energy behemoth. Zhou served as China's ambassador to the United States until 2010.

Yale maintains questionable ties to China even as U.S. intelligence officials warn of the regime's aggressive efforts to influence American universities. FBI director Christopher Wray has warned of China's use of "nontraditional collectors [of intelligence], especially in the academic setting." The Department of Education has investigated numerous schools, including Yale, for failing to disclose funding from China and other foreign countries.

Yale says the Beijing Center, which opened in 2014, acts as "a liaison to initiate and support exchanges with Yale's Chinese partners in academia, business, government, and other sectors." The Ivy League school boasts of having a relationship with China that is "deeper than any other university" in the United States. In the years since its launch, the Beijing Center has hosted numerous events and workshops that tout Chinese government initiatives.

The three Americans who serve on the advisory board—former U.S. trade representative Carla Hills, former ambassador to China Clark Randt, and insurance magnate Maurice Greenberg—are all known for supporting closer ties between Washington and Beijing.

The center in 2018 hosted China state propaganda network CGTN at an event that promoted the Belt and Road Initiative, Beijing's controversial plan to build infrastructure projects in impoverished countries. American officials have expressed concern that Belt and Road undermines U.S. national security. Event panelists praised Belt and Road, with one saying "China should be commended" for the initiative. Fu Chengyu, the Beijing Center adviser and member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also spoke at the event.

In 2019, the Beijing Center held a talk with National Basketball Association China executive David Chang to tout "how the success of the NBA in China has strengthened ties between China and the U.S." Months later, the Chinese government forced internet giant Tencent to pull NBA content because Houston Rockets executive Daryl Morey sided with Hong Kong protesters. The NBA has since faced criticism for doing business in China while ignoring the country's human rights abuses.

Last April, the Beijing Center held an event with Xu Hongcai, a member of Western Returned Scholars Association, which works under the direction of the Chinese Communist Party to recruit Chinese scientists and technology workers back to China. The Western Returned Scholars Association directs China's "Thousand Talents" program, which the FBI says China uses to incentivize members "to steal foreign technologies needed to advance China's national, military, and economic goals."

Virginia-Based Voter Suppression Group Paid Thousands to Voting Rights ‘Champion’ Marc Elias

Liberal lawyer worked for PAC that worked to suppress GOP support for Glenn Youngkin

A political action committee that published deceptive campaign ads to suppress Republican votes for Virginia governor-elect Glenn Youngkin (R.) paid thousands of dollars to Marc Elias, a Democratic election lawyer whom liberals tout as a champion of election integrity and voting rights.

Accountability Virginia PAC paid $5,254 last year to Elias Law Group, according to Federal Election Commission records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. The PAC paid $12,578 to Perkins Coie, the firm where Elias worked until 2021. Axios reported in September that the Democrat-run PAC masqueraded as a conservative group to divert support from Youngkin.

Accountability Virginia came under fire for running social media ads in rural Virginia that misleadingly claimed conservatives were upset with Youngkin's support for the Second Amendment. Dominion Energy, a company that contributed to the PAC, sought a refund for a $200,000 contribution because of the group's deceptive tactics.

The PAC's payments to Elias's firms, which have not been previously reported, were for unspecified legal services. The payments were made from Sept. 13 to Dec. 16, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Elias's work for the PAC could undercut his vaunted status among Democrats as a defender of voting rights and election integrity. Elias has filed lawsuits for Democratic groups challenging state laws he claims restrict voters' access to the polls. He is also leading the legal battle to redraw congressional districts that Democrats say have been designed to disenfranchise minority voters. He appears frequently on MSNBC and CNN to accuse Republicans of voter suppression.

Accountability Virginia PAC has likewise been accused of suppressing Republican turnout in Virginia. The group's ads, published on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, were written as if they came from conservative gun-rights supporters. The ads questioned Youngkin's commitment to the Second Amendment and suggested the then-candidate was out of step with the National Rifle Association. One Snapchat ad said of Youngkin, "We can’t trust him on the Second Amendment."

The NRA blasted the ads, while Facebook and Instagram removed them for violating the companies' advertising policies. The NRA released a statement that called the ads "disingenuous" and accused Virginia Accountability PAC of "targeting gun owners in their voter suppression campaign."

The PAC spent $87,236 between Sept. 21 and Nov. 2 to publish anti-Youngkin ads on Facebook and Instagram.

It is unclear whether Elias was aware of the ad campaign. Elias's firms were the only ones to provide legal services to Virginia Accountability PAC. Elias did not respond to a request for comment.

Elias publicly rebuked Trump supporters for claiming that voting machines altered votes in the 2020 presidential election.

CBP Officers Seize Over $1.5 Million Worth of Drugs at the Hidalgo Port of Entry

HIDALGO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted hard narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $1.5 million last week at the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

“These significant seizures of hard narcotics not only illustrate the firm commitment of our frontline CBP officers to carry out CBP’s border security mission but show how their important work helps to protect our communities from illegal narcotics,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

The first seizure occurred on Friday, Jan. 7 at the Hidalgo International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2016 Nissan March driven by an 18-year-old male United States citizen who resides in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, for a secondary examination. Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection by CBP officers, a total 38 pounds of alleged cocaine and 448 grams of alleged fentanyl were discovered.

The second seizure occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at the Hidalgo International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 42-year-old male United States citizen who resides in San Antonio, Texas, for a secondary examination. Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection by CBP officers, a total 90 pounds of alleged methamphetamine was discovered.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $1,575,995 combined.

=Leading Queensland cancer researcher Mark Smyth fabricated scientific data, review finds

A Queensland cancer researcher has been found to have fabricated scientific data used in support of grant funding applications and human trials, his former employer says.

Key points:

Funding bodies have been contacted about the findings

QIMR Berghofer has repaid research grants

There will be a "rigorous" review of QIMR Berghofer's research governance frameworks, leadership and organisational culture

Immunologist Mark Smyth resigned from the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute last year after a "number of complaints" were made.

An independent panel, led by retired Queensland Court of Appeal judge Robert Gotterson and which included three eminent scientists, found Professor Smyth had seriously breached codes relating to the responsible conduct of research and the use of animals in research.

"The institute referred the findings to Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission, in line with its legislative obligations," QIMR Berghofer said in a statement released on Tuesday.

"The findings against Mark Smyth included fabrication of research data, which was used to support grant funding applications and clinical trials."

The institute said while there was no indication that participant safety had been compromised in any human trials using Professor Smyth's research data, it had taken "decisive action" to notify the clinical studies involved.

Funding bodies have also been contacted and in some cases, QIMR Berghofer has repaid research grants.

A review of experiments carried out by Professor Smyth during his employment at the institute, with the assistance of an independent assessor, is also being undertaken to verify the data produced.

Since 1988, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has awarded Professor Smyth grants valued at more than $38 million.

He no longer holds any NHMRC grants.

'Rigorous' review launched

QIMR Berghofer has begun a "rigorous" review into issues resulting from the research misconduct findings against Professor Smyth.

Former Federal Court judge Bruce Lander began the review before Christmas and is expected to report by mid-2022.

He will probe QIMR Berghofer's research governance frameworks, leadership and organisational culture.

QIMR Berghofer council chairman Arun Sharma pledged the case would be a "catalyst for comprehensive new research integrity and cultural processes" at the institute.

"We are committed to identifying and correcting the activities which led to research misconduct not being identified and prevented at an earlier stage," Professor Sharma said.

"Council has already signed off on a robust new research integrity framework, which will seek to ensure QIMR Berghofer has the most stringent integrity protocols in the country and address any shortcoming on behalf of the Institute in relation to these unacceptable breaches."
