Slide 4: Hyenas inKenya

The data were collected in decades-long observations of these animals in the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Slide 5: Walking towards theirdemise[5=occult for death]

While healthy hyenas went only within [COMMITTEE of?] 300 feet of the lions, the sick ones dared to go up to50 meters and, of course, their chances of dying were four times greater.

Slide 8: Humans and toxoplasma

And then there's this striking fact about toxoplasma [cats: Lions and tigers?] and human beings. The single-celled protozoan has been found in1/3[13] of the human population.

Slide 10: Good in business

Proof of this is a study published in the National Center forBiotechnologyInformation (USA) which shows that people with toxoplasmosis have a greater probability to developentrepreneurial activitiesthan others who do not have thedisease.

Slide 11: Danger for pregnant women

Slide13: Cat and mouse fight

Toxoplasma also manipulatesinfected rodentsto act risky among domestic cats.

Slide 15: The voice of experience

This effect may have occurred in the hyena pups from the study we cited. In any case, the survivors seemed to have learned, over time, aboutthe danger of provoking a lion. They've started to do it less and less.

Slide 16: Real impact

Holtermann 'Nugget': 10,229 ounces (290kg)

While the Welcome Stranger is the largest gold nugget ever found, the biggest single gold specimen discovered on the planet is the Holtermann 'Nugget'. Unearthed in October 1872 by German-born miner Bernhardt Holtermann at Hill End in New South Wales, Australia, the gold-embedded-in-quartz specimen weighed a staggering 10,229 ounces (290kg). The rock was valued at £12,000, which is $1.7million (£1.3m) in today's money, before it was crushed and the gold extracted.
