UPDATE:
When first discussed, a number of anons were for one banner.
Later, some proposed a POOL to select from.
We can do either – but if anons want a pool, have some suggestions based on

iwo jima image (most anons use anyway – unifying theme newly commemorated)

findability in the catalog (should look different from side threads)

image size (it's a SMALL image so the simpler, the better)

Use either no text or just Q Research – with any additions being short phrases like "For God & Country" or other unifying themes (WWG1WGA?)

Use black and white, greyscale or subtle colors (this is to distinguish General Images from others)

Use 16:9, Golden Mean or similar ratio (not too squarish – works best for Catalog images)
Anon did a version of this, and it looks pretty good.
It uses simple Iwo Jima images similar in color tone.
No text. CAP.
Not hard to distinguish the brightly-colored side threads from the Generals.
