He claims that the federal government is liable for intentional infliction of emotional distress while he was in custody

Avenatti alleges that he was only allowed to read one book during his time in jail — Trump's The Art of the Deal

He was convicted last year of attempting to extort as much as $25 million from Nike and sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison

Avenatti is also charged with cheating Stormy Daniels out of $300,000

He is confined to a California residence while awaiting trial

Avenatti is suspended from practicing law in California
