Russia responds to US ‘false flag’ claims

The Kremlin says there is no evidence for ‘hearsay’ accusations of Russian ‘operatives’ set to frame Ukraine

After Western media carried reports, on Friday, citing unnamed US officials, claiming that Russia is preparing a “false flag” incident in order to invade Ukraine, the Kremlin has dismissed them as baseless and unfounded rumors.

“So far, all these statements have been unsubstantiated and not backed up by anything,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS news agency, when asked about the stories making the rounds.

Earlier in the day, anonymous US officials echoed claims from Kiev that Russia had sent “operatives” into the disputed regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, to prepare a “provocation” that could trigger an “invasion.”

CNN was the first to report the assertion, followed by the Guardian, Washington Post, Reuters, AFP and Bloomberg.

Washington has accused Moscow of planning to invade Ukraine for weeks now, though the Kremlin rejected this as “fake news.” Similar warnings have been publicized in US media every year since 2015, always based on anonymous sources, and have never come to pass.

The quotes from an anonymous US official apparently dovetailed with insinuations by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan about Russia “laying the groundwork to have the option of fabricating a pretext for an invasion,” brought up at Thursday’s White House press briefing. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby referred to these claims at his own briefing on Friday, but then added the US assessment is that Russia hasn’t yet decided whether to invade.

Washington’s claims come after a week of high-level talks with Russia, NATO and the OSCE to discuss Moscow’s proposals for improving collective security in Europe. The US and its allies rejected Russia’s key proposals out of hand.

Ricky Gervais Asserts People Are Getting Sick Of Celebrities Using Their Influence To Virtue Signal: “The People With Nothing Became Tired Of Being Lectured By People Who Had Everything”

Comedian Ricky Gervais has recently slammed celebrities who constantly use their influence to virtue signal, asserting that “the people with nothing became tired of being lectured by people who had everything.”

Gervais hosted the award ceremony on five different occasions but it is his participation at the Golden Globes in 2020 that managed to garner the most attention, wherein the comedian unapologetically lambasted woke Hollywood celebrities and tech companies for using the event as a platform to make political statements.

While he’s not hosting the event this year, Gervais did have some pointed comments on the awards ceremony and those who attend them while speaking with The Sun.

“They’re trying to get through this and start again. I don’t think anyone’s even been invited. It’s not even a ceremony,” said Gervais regarding this year’s Golden Globes, assessing that the event “could come back stronger than ever and be loved again or it could be the last one.”

Regarding his past appearances at the Golden Globes as a host, the comedian declared that “2020 was my favourite one. That one captured the imagination.” The comedian went on to explain that he got some criticism after he targeted celebrities the first time he hosted the event, but that particular sentiment has since changed.

“The first time I did it, ten years ago, everyone was like, ‘Ah, how can you talk to these wonderful multi-millionaires, how can you talk to these beautiful people, like that? We love celebrities,’” Gervais pointed out, adding, “By the last one it was like, ‘God, give it to them, we hate celebrities!’”

The comedian then proceeded to explain why he believes people have turned on woke celebrities in recent years, suggesting that it all comes down to the latter’s hypocritical, incessant virtue signalling.

“I know what it is,” Gervais continued. “With all of the austerity and people struggling, they think, ‘Why are these people lecturing me? They’re going   to an awards ceremony in a limo and are telling me to recycle?’”

Further expanding on his theory, Gervais added, “People just got sick of it, just got sick of virtue signalling. And they were like a beacon to aim their wrath at. The people with nothing became tired of being lectured by people who had everything.”

Republican senator introduces Fauci Act

The White House health advisor was previously caught on a hot mic calling the lawmaker a ‘moron’

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) plans to introduce a bill dubbed the Fauci Act, aimed at making government officials’ financial information readily available. This is after the senator clashed with Dr. Anthony Fauci at a hearing.

Marshall will introduce a bill called the Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals (FAUCI) Act, a spokesperson revealed on Friday. The measure would require the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) to publish the financial records of officials like Fauci on their website, making them available to the public.

Fauci was questioned about his personal finances by Marshall during a recent hearing in which the health advisor accused Marshall of being “misinformed” as his personal finances were publicly available. He was also caught on a hot mic referring to the senator as a “moron,” which was just one of Fauci’s numerous testy exchanges with Republican lawmakers.

Marshall’s argument is that the information on Fauci and others is not readily available enough. A recent report from the Center for Public Integrity found that a reporter had obtained the requested financial records, but it was a two-month process involving a Freedom of Information Act request and the reporter “politely badgering” for the requested documents.

Marshall had previously requested information on Fauci’s personal finances – he is the highest paid federal employee – and investments during the Covid-19 pandemic in a letter to Fauci following their heated exchange, claiming his office could not find the requested information.

“At a time when multiple federal officials have stepped down due to questionable financial transactions during the pandemic, these questions are both reasonable and relevant,” Marshall wrote.

'Kiss My A**': Dan Bongino unleashes on YouTube over the Big Tech giant's temporary suspension of his channel

Conservative commentator Dan Bongino sent a scathing email to YouTube after the company temporarily suspended his channel, concluding his message by writing "Respectfully Kiss My A**," before signing his name.

A YouTube spokesperson told the Daily Beast, "We removed a video for violating our policies on COVID-19 misinformation, specifically for comments that masks are useless, resulting in a first strike on the channel."

The Big Tech behemoth also suspended the channel's monetization "for repeatedly violating our Advertiser-Friendly Guidelines on harmful and dangerous acts."

One of the penalties for a first strike is that a channel cannot upload videos for one week.

Bongino did not mince words, lambasting the company as a "s**t platform," and noting that he is an investor in Rumble, a different platform that he said "respects free-speech."

"We knew it was just a matter of time before the tyrannical, free-speech hating, bullst, big tech sthole you work for, would try to silence us. I anxiously waited for this moment however, as I've said on my show many times," he wrote to an individual at YouTube.

"So here's my deal to you, and there will be NO negotiation. After your 'suspension,' I will immediately post content questioning why masks have been totally ineffective in stopping this pandemic. I dare you to do something about it," Bongino declared in the email.

Rumble tweeted that it is "proud" to carry Bongino's podcast on its platform.
