14-year-old Burien boy accused in 2 separate murder cases could be tried as an adult

RENTON, Wash. — A 14-year-old boy accused this week in the fatal shooting of a man outside a Renton convenience store during a drive-by shooting is also considered the prime suspect in a killing outside a Safeway store.

Prosecutors have reserved the right to consider charging the teen boy as an adult because of the serious nature of the crimes and have until Jan. 19 to decide if they will do so. KOMO News is not identifying the teen suspect because of his age.

The boy waived his right to appear in juvenile court on Friday although some of his relatives were there for the proceeding. They declined to comment about the case.
