Corona vaccination mandatory from February 1 for everyone aged 18 and over

On sunday, the Austrian government presented its draft law on mandatory Corona vaccination. Austria is the first country in the EU to introduce such a legal obligation, as reported by dpa and the portal Vienna.at.

According to the bill, all adults aged 18 and older residing in Austria will be required to receive an injection against COVID-19. Originally, there was even talk of mandatory vaccination from the age of 14.

The regulation will come into force on February 1, with a six-week transition period until mid-March during which no penalties will yet be imposed. There will be exceptions for pregnant women and people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. Fines of 600 to 3,600 euros are envisaged for violations of the vaccination requirement. (…)
