"Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Malik McDowell was arrested for public exposure and beating a police deputy in Florida on Monday after he wandered naked onto a preschool's property.

Video from the arrest shows thenude 6-foot-6, 295-poundMcDowell surrounded by officers in the parking lot of the Deerfield Beach school known as the Learning Center. He is accused of exposing himself publicly, resisting arrest with violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer.

'There is surveillance video that Mr. McDowell actually went onto the property of the Learning Center while naked,' a prosecutor said during Tuesday's arraignment.

McDowell allegedly punched a deputy with a closed fist after the officer approached the naked Browns player as he sat on a curb, according to a police report obtained by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

'[McDowell] charged at me … at full speed with closed fist,' the officer said in the report.

Video shows officers securing his legs and arms in shackles before McDowell was placed on a stretcher, covered in a blanket and wheeled away.

His attorney claims that someone may have drugged the 25-year-old.

'Somebody may have slipped him something or given him something that he wasn't aware of, which explains some of this bizarre behavior,' the attorney told Local10.com.

The preschool went into a brief lockdown when teachers saw 'a gentleman roaming the parking lot without any clothing on,' according to company spokesperson Nan Zamora.

'He seemed to be not himself,' Zamora told Local10.com.

McDowell was still being held in jail on $31,000 bond as of late Tuesday afternoon, according Broward County Sheriff's records. "

"Minn. man battling COVID is moved to Texas after hospital threatens to pull plug"

January 18, 2022

" An unvaccinated COVID-19 patient who was being kept alive on a ventilator has been transferred from Minnesota to Texas after his wife obtained a restraining order barring his doctors from turning his machine off, according to reports.

Scott Quiner, 55, of Buffalo, Minn., was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids on Oct. 31 and scheduled to have his ventilator shut off Jan. 13 after he suffered lung failure.

The father of three was unvaccinated when he was diagnosed with the coronavirus around Halloween, Fox 9 reported, citing his family and their lawyer.

Quiner was placed under deep sedation and hooked up to a ventilator when his oxygen levels dropped dangerously low, according to the news outlet.

His wife, Anne Quiner, sought the restraining order from Anoka County court to keep him on the vent after she claimed that Allina Health, which operates Mercy Hospital, threatened to pull the plug on her husband’s breathing machine, allegedly believing there was no more hope for him.

Scott Quiner is unvaccinated and was diagnosed with COVID-19 around Halloween.

Without a judge’s decision, “my husband will die,” she wrote in her petition, the Star Tribune reported.

“I have advised the doctors that I vehemently disagree with this action and do not want my husband’s ventilator turned off,” Anne Quiner said, according to court papers cited by the paper.

Anne, who was appointed by her husband to make health care decisions on his behalf, received the restraining order from Judge Jennifer Stanfield, who set a hearing for Feb. 11.

Scott was flown to a Texas hospital over the weekend, his family’s lawyer, Marjorie Holsten, told the Star Tribune. The Texas hospital was reportedly willing to continue to provide the family with the level of care it wanted.

Scott’s family has raised tens of thousands of dollars for his care through a couple of online fundraisers in recent days.

“Scott is now in a hospital in Texas getting critical care,” Holsten told the paper."

"“The doctor said Scott was the most undernourished patient he has ever seen. The last update I got was yesterday afternoon after some tests had been run. All organs are working except his lungs,” she added.

By Sunday evening, Scott was said to be improving on a ventilator while being weaned from heavy sedatives, according to Fox 9.

“I think the world is watching what is going on with Scott,” Holsten told the news outlet. “And as he gets better and better, we are going to see that, you know what, there are protocols that should be used that hospitals have not been using. And I am hoping that changes are going to be made as a result of this case.”

In a statement, Allina Health said it was “grateful the family was able to find a health care facility that meets their needs and we continue to wish them all the best.”

The company said it could not address the allegations of malnourishment, due to privacy laws.

“Allina Health has great confidence in the exceptional care provided to our patients, which is administered according to evidence-based practices by our talented and compassionate medical teams,” it told the Star Tribune."
