We knew these weapons existed in the empty, but useful space between conventional weapons and (previous) nuclear weapons. Now they are on display in the space orders of magnitude greater than even airborne gravity bombs, which tend to be the biggest of the burnch.
The fact that this came in on an aerial platform and went for a dive displays further impressive delivery capable and effect/size ratio. Not to mention a deadnuts bullseye.
A collection of impressive, game changing, technology. Spies abound. So if one has and shows it, others may show off as well lest the first party think it has a monopoly on checkmate the way the US did at the end of WWII.

Tonga looks to be likely more, or much more that 10x the Tsar Bomba yield just from the comparative measurements…assuming they are reasonably accurate with respect to one another.
Light, radio, pressure, tends to follow a square of distance rule. Double the distance, needs four times the energy, triple needs nine times, etc…
The Tonga cloud is from a subsea crustal detonation, not an airburst, which would've been much, much larger and capable of flattening, frying, and igniting stuff on a nind boggling scale.
