In the time of the Bible, "Judah" could refer to the Judahites, Judahites who lived in Judea, or to the Temple which was a combination of Pharisees and Sadducees. Pharisees followed the Oral Teachings, the Talmud Sadducees followed the Old Testament to the letter(in theory). Even not considering that all 3 of these meaning are being lumped together when you say "Jew", Sadducees have since ceased to exist, they totally disappeared, so the Temple today is a Pharisaic people, it is the Talmud, and in the time of the Bible it wasn't. So you can see if you think about this how a mistranslation can give you all sorts of wrong ideas, like the Old Testament being "jewish" heritage.
