Q Told Us To "Follow The Wives"

Ex-Scientologists Discuss John Travolta's 'Dark Side,' 'True Believer' Wife

For an article for The Daily Beast published Friday, Dana Kennedy spoke with several high-ranking members of Hollywood's most high-profile cult about its most high-profile couple: John Travolta and Kelly Preston.

Describing the couple as "the most powerful and loyal Scientologists in the world," Kennedy underscores that they’ve "managed to dodge, or 'handle,' in Scientology parlance, years of accusations from male masseurs and his former co-pilot, among others, of sexual assault and harassment against Travolta." The most recent allegation to surface against Travolta, Kennedy notes, is a "sexual battery" claim by a male masseur in 2000. But with the help of his "fearsome LA lawyer" Marty Singer, Travolta has proved over the years to be "Teflon John."

"Kelly is a much more dedicated Scientologist than John," Rinder, who knew and liked both of them, told The Daily Beast. "Scientology dictates every choice in life and informs every decision a Scientologist makes."

"The church has a very intense indoctrination to prepare you for anything you might hear," she said. "It's like a pre-emptive strike in case something uncomfortable comes up. Kelly’s been trained to not believe what she hears in the media. She’s been trained to think that these are evil people making things up."

Deputy Peterson Accused Of 'Covering Up' Alleged Sexual Assault By Broward Sheriff's Son.

A local Miami news station released an explosive report on Thursday night about a "disturbing assault" that happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School four years to the day before the tragic shooting in February. The alleged incident involved one of the sons of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and was allegedly "covered up" by Officer Scot Peterson, the resource officer who infamously failed to confront the Parkland shooter.

WPLG Local 10 investigative reporter Bob Norman reported Thursday that two 17-year-old students at the school allegedly bullied a 14-year-old freshman boy, with one of the 17-year-olds holding down the student while the other 17-year-old kicked the victim, grabbed his genitals, and then grabbed the victim's own baseball bat and began shoving it against his buttocks "simulating rape" through the boy's clothes.

The father of a survivor of the Parkland school shooting, Royer Borges, called for an investigation into the alleged incident last week. Patch.com reports:

In a statement issued through his Fort Lauderdale attorney's office, Royer Borges said that a then 17-year-old son of the sheriff was involved in an incident with former Deputy Scot Peterson, the former Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resource officer. Peterson was the resource officer who failed to enter the high school as a gunman gunned down students and staff inside, leaving 17 dead and others injured.

The sheriff's son and another boy received a three-day suspension as a result of the 2014 incident in what the police report described as a simple battery. Borges said that the prior case involved a "young man who was sexually assaulted."

"Now I ask you: If this wouldn't have been the sheriff's son, would a sexual assault have been reduced to a simple battery?" Borges asked in his statement. "Was deputy Peterson allowed to retire with his pension because he protected Sheriff Israel's son from having a felony arrest? These are the questions that I and I'm sure many people from this county want answered."

David Hogg puts Publix in crosshairs, demands $1 million donation and anti-NRA pledge.

David Hogg is trying to shake down Publix.

The public face of the gun control movement demanded $1 million Thursday from the Florida-based grocery chain in a tweet, just one day after calling for a “die-in” protest at its stores.

Publix is being targeted by Mr. Hogg for its support of Adam Putnam, a Republican gubernatorial candidate who is now the state’s agricultural commissioner. The Tampa Bay Times reported earlier this week that Publix had given $670,000 during the last three years to Putnam campaigns.

Mr. Hogg not only sought atonement money from the grocery chain in Thursday’s tweet, he also demanded a pledge of ideological fealty to the gun-control movement.

I call on @Publix to donate double the money they gave to Putman to the Stoneman Douglas Victims fund, $1,000,000. And never support an A rated NRA politician again.

— David Hogg (@davidhogg111) May 24, 2018

The monetary demand came a day after Mr. Hogg called for disruptive demonstrations Friday at all Publix stores, one of the biggest chains in the Southeast and especially Florida, where it is the largest private employer.

.@Publix is a #NRASellOut

In Parkland we will have a die in the Friday (the 25th) before memorial day weekend. Starting at 4pm for 12 min inside our 2 Publix stores. Just go an lie down starting at 4. Feel free to die in with us at as many other @Publix as possible.

— David Hogg (@davidhogg111) May 23, 2018

When asked by the Tampa Bay Times about its support for Mr. Putnam, a Publix spokesman did not mention guns.

“As the hometown candidate, Publix has had a long-standing relationship with Commissioner Putnam,” spokesman Brian West said. “We support pro-business candidates, and believe Commissioner Putnam will make a great governor.”

Anti-Trump forces threaten lawmakers' lives in name of #Resistance

Political conversations have grown increasingly nasty in recent years, and it may be spawning something even worse: a growing number of people taking their vitriol to another level by threatening members of Congress.

In the past couple of months, the Justice Department announced action in four cases involving people who threatened serious harm, or even death, to federal lawmakers…

…Most of the targets have been Republican lawmakers, who are in the crosshairs of anti-Trump forces who relish their stance as a self-styled #Resistance.

Authorities said Rep. Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has been the brunt of such venom. Christopher Michael McGowan, the man accused of threatening the life of the Virginia Republican, seems to have disliked Mr. Goodlatte’s attempts to question the direction of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I’m serious @BobGoodlatte6,” ran part of a tweet Mr. McGowan is accused of sending in April. “You keep [expletive] with our constitution and challenged Mueller and the last you will see by my patriot ass behind a gun.”

One of Mr. Goodlatte’s neighbors, Rep. Thomas A Garrett Jr., received threats via Facebook.

Prosecutors secured an indictment against Eun Soo Lee, 28, of Cypress, California, accusing him of threatening to “curb-stomp” the Virginia Republican and told him, “You’re dead if I ever meet you in real life, [expletive]. I’ll [expletive] kill you.”

Although the occupant of the White House gets the brunt of threats, the 535 members of Congress, often very visible in their communities, also are targets. A congressman from Colorado was instructed to wear body armor while delivering public speeches.

It would be easier to dismiss these disturbed rants were it not for James T. Hodgkinson, a left-wing zealot set on assassinating Republicans. He drove from Illinois to Virginia, cased the ballpark in Alexandria where Republican lawmakers were practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game and, on June 14, 2017, unleashed 62 rounds from a rifle and a handgun.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Louisiana Republican, was shot in the hip and gravely wounded.

He told the National Prayer Breakfast audience in February that he likely would have died had his ambulance driver, creeping through rush-hour traffic, not spotted a helicopter coming to the baseball field. The driver returned the ambulance to the field to have Mr. Scalise flown to an emergency room.

Two special agents with the Capitol Police, Crystal Griner and David Bailey, returned fire against Hodgikinson, who was killed in the gunfight…

How Trump is making it easier to say 'You're fired!' to bad federal bureaucrats

President Trump has ordered a crackdown on poor performance and misbehavior within the ranks of the federal workforce, senior administration officials said Friday.

Mr. Trump signed a trio of executive orders that reform civil service rules by expediting termination for cause, revamping union contracts and limiting taxpayer-funded union work at agencies, said a senior administration official.

“Today the president is fulfilling his promise to promote more efficient government by reforming civil service rules,” said Andrew P. Bremberg, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.

He said the president was instituting “merit system principles.”

“These executive order will make it easier for agencies to remove poor-performing employees and make sure taxpayer dollars are more efficiently used,” Mr. Bremberg said.

The move will promote efficiency, save taxpayer dollars and create better work environments for “thousands of employees who come to work each day and do a great job,” said another official.

The changes met loud objections from unions.

“This is more than union busting – it’s democracy busting,” said AFGE National President J. David Cox Sr. “These executive orders are a direct assault on the legal rights and protections that Congress has specifically guaranteed to the 2 million public-sector employees across the country who work for the federal government.”

Complaints about deadwood in federal agencies are nothing new. And the administration offered statistics to highlight the need for reforms:

• Office of Personnel Management data shows federal employees are 44 times less likely to be fired than a private sector worker once they’ve completed a probationary period.

• A recent Government Accountability Office report showed that it takes between six months and a year to remove a federal employee for poor performance, followed by an eight-month appeals process.

Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, applauded the orders.

“Today’s executive orders are an important step to help ensure government is primarily directed toward benefiting the American people — not government employees,” he said.

Sen. James Lankford, Oklahoma Republican and chairman of the subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management, said it would make the federal workforce stronger.

“We have thousands of federal employees who work very hard for the nation; it’s important that their work is not frustrated by the poor performance of a small few,” he said.

The executive orders also target taxpayer-funded union activity at federal agencies, including ending taxpayer-funded lobbying by unions.

Question: Does this also mean they can get rid of "SES" employees?
